What If? The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion What if Martin Septim left a heir behind?

Urabrask Revealed

Let them go.

What if Martin Septim fathered a child with a female Altmer Champion of Cyrodil? Let's assume that by the time the final Main Quest starts (right after Martin banished Mehrunes Dagon), the Champion is two months into her pregnancy. What would be the fallout for the Empire be, with an Altmer as the yet-to-be-born heir to the throne of Cyrodil?

The Blades will likely support it.

Outside of that, though, things get weird.

Are we assuming the Champion of Cydodiil has done all the quests? IE, they are also a part of the Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, et cetera?

Are they Sheogorath?

Yes, by the time the Oblivion Crisis was over, the Champion has done all these quests and became their leader.
About the mantling of Sheogorath, I'm not sure. It'd be funny, but let's assume that she hasn't found the door to the Island yet.

that was fun as a non-canon quest, but the implications of said quest were just dumb.

as far as the actual question goes. It's a tossup really the only thing keeping the empire together at that point was the Dragon convenient, and with that fulfilled the empire has no teeth. The Hier will essentially have to do things in the old nord/game of thrones style to prove his or herself the true rightful ruler.

Realistically though, both the Blades and the Champion of Cyrodiil will be backing them. The Champion of Cyrodiil is also likely to have relationships with other important figures.

Their leadership positions in the guilds will also be valuable.

The biggest issue will likely be accusations/doubts about the heirs legitimacy.

There's also the matter of the Thalmor. At best, they will claim that the Champion closed the Gates of Oblivion on their orders; at worst, they might claim that one of their leaders should be regent until the heir is of sufficient age. To them, of course, and with how long-lived Altmer are...
