Well I'm not an expect on Gears of War, I literally only played the first game through but off the top of my head, the main advantage the Coalition had would be its numbers and size (as limited as it was by the Locust War wiping out 90% of the population). Outside of the helicopters and man portable heavy weapons, I know there are like trains and bikes and weird looking wheeled tanks in the subsequent games, they don't seem to have too many heavy weapons or vehicles.

Fallout meanwhile has it in scads in certain places. Power suit soldiers in the Fallout lore are considered to be 'walking tanks' for a reason and more importantly there is a lot of anti-armor weaponry that is man... and power armored man portable. Not just mini nukes but you get weapons like rocket launchers, plasma rifles, laser cannons, mini nuke launchers, pulse grenades etc. And then you have man portable anti personnel weapons like miniguns and bozars and gatling lasers and the like as well and the heavier forces in Fallout (Enclave, Brotherhood of Steel, some groups of Mutants etc) would give COG forces many headaches IMHO.

With that said with forces like the Commonwealth or NCR or Legion and the various bandits or townships I think the heavily armored COG types could give them a run for their money. I'm sure that COG soldiers with their weapons and armor are at least comparable to say... a dude in heavier versions of combat armor and equipped with one of the higher end small arms, maybe even better then them mano a mano.

So the fact that COG has their own fortified city and a large controlled population and resources, they could probably do pretty well against whatever disparate nonsense the Fallout wasteland can offer against them. The Eastern Brotherhood and NCR might be the only factions who could prove more intractable problems. The former because its large, has its own resources and better technology AFAIK and the latter because of its size which could be comparable to the COG and maybe just a level or two below them in overall widespread technology.

Now again, I've only played GoW 1 so... my knowledge is probably four or five games out of date.

Well recently they got Handheld railguns, rail cannons that they mount on walls to defend New ephyra ,robot armies ,and fabricators that can build multi kilometer settlements in weeks, they also got the hammer of dawn back online.

Well if that's the case then they'd be pretty decisively in the advantage I would think. I've been watching LP's of Gears of War 3 and things look pretty desperate there... with everything overrun and the like and people saying how it's a few hundred thousand humans left, that would put COG on a similar footing demographics wise with the NCR or maaaaaaybe the Eastern Brotherhood/Commonwealth.

I have no idea how formidable the handheld railguns are, but I would revise my earlier post on early series COG in that I do see a lot of gunships around. The NCR doesn't seem to have much of an Air Force to speak of AFAIK. So maybe the Eastern Brotherhood would be the only comparable force considering they have a massive command airship and loads of Vertibirds for deployment. Plus random one offs like Liberty Prime (though it has shown a weakness to satellite weaponry before). There are satellite weapons in Fallout of course, ranging from the Helios Array, to the Enclave's Bradley-Hercules Satellite (which has no missiles left as of Fallout 3) and maybe something random like Mothership Zeta which would be very OP.

But I mean if one side gets cool space based weapons... maybe the other side should as well if the canon permits.

Though I guess ultimately an ISOT doesn't mean that the two sides would conflict.

Where exactly would you think the COG would be transported to?

All the new stuff that they got was in gears of war 4 and 5.

The NCR the can have Archimedes 2

I would have the COG put into the Commonwealth. and the COG doesn't need to fight anyone if they don't need to. they would definitely try to wipe out the raiders and super mutants though.

Having seen/played Gears of War 4 (but not 5... fuck that noise) I would say that the levels where your fighting robots is pretty lame and underwhelming, though I understand why they did it since gunning down other COG's and Humans would be distasteful. But with that said, it does make me feel that despite their aesthetics, seeing those robots getting gunned down by the fun dozen or so leaves me to feel they're on the level of those synth bots that were used as mooks by the Institute in Fallout 4.

However, if the COG does established itself (or handwave replaces) the Institute in the Boston Area, I do feel they'd do a fine job in purging the area of Super Mutants and Raiders. The biggest crisis in the East Coast seems to be Super Mutants. As the Brotherhood of Steel stated, they travelled all the way from the Capital Wasteland to the Commonwealth and what they found in all of the major urban areas was loads of super mutants. That's not good since the East Coast mutants have a habit of being rather omnicidal with notable exceptions.

One thing the COG has been doing for a long time though... is fighting Locusts... and their knockoffs whose story I can't be bothered to look up again since its kinda convoluted and I don't care about. But the important takeaway is, the COG has had lots of experience fighting something similar in the Locusts... and while generally I think Super Mutants are far more formidable then most lesser forms of Locusts, the COG's really have to dig in and root them out of their tunnels and urban environments and deal with them boiling from the surface of the Earth. This is not something you have to deal with when fighting Super Mutants.

I think the COG, especially if they work with local forces like the burgeoning Commonwealth itself, should actually do a good job in ridding the immediate area of Super Mutants and other annoying things like Raiders or Sirenheads modded into the game. :p

And while a big theme of the COG is their constant struggle with freedom and authoritarianism (which is really played up in the novels apparently) in the games it shows that everyone is able to work together against a common threat well enough. So I'd imagine the COG/Commonwealth could probably blend together and be a force in the Northeast and the Brotherhood of Steel would be wise to negotiate instead of attempting to intimidate/dominate. But a lot of this depends on how the COG treat the non-hostile locals like the Commonwealth and Railroad and local settlements and the like.

I am pretty sure they as of Gears 4 and 5 would be the new powerhouse, and basically just be able to easily clear a nice large section for themselves. I could see them working with the BOS and the minutemen to make it a nice settlement, perhaps spread through the country to make it habitable.
