Suppose Microsoft Listened?

Suppose, unlike in RL, Microsoft actually listened to their customer input?

And when people said "We don't like that.", they listened. And made it different. What people wanted.

How different would things be today then?

When programming, it's difficult to bring together different wishes of the customers, project leads and realities of programming. My guess is that with Microsoft being Microsoft, listening to their heterogenous customer base would make their products even worse.
