Stereotypes in the Media that need to die

This thread is to vent your frustration about all the Stereotypes you see in Movies, TV Shows, Commercials and Video Games that are not only blatantly false or outdated. I am talking about stuff that is cringe and eye roll worthy that when you see it you go. Ah man not this shit again. So feel free to post the things that just bug you. I will start it off.

1: All Southerners as bumbling hillbillies that only have a 5th Grade Education. This one really needs to die. Mostly because I have run into people from other countries and Northern cities that actually believe this is a widespread thing in the South.

2: All Black People use Ghetto Slang and act like people in a Tyler Perry Movie. While you find some people like that. The average black person will talk and act just like any other average person on the street.

3: All Native Americans are stoic and one with Nature. Yeah the people that make those shows and moves have not met some of my cousins. They are as far from that trope as you can get.

4: All of America is like Texas. I am looking at you Japan. Stop it stop that shit.

I actually like the whole everybody from the USA’s armed with lots of guns cliche

KAMACHI .EXE even has civilians running away turn out to be armed with bazookas and machineguns
My favorite was a murder mystery where the American killer says that people in the US can't even fall asleep at night without a gun under their pillow. Not because they feel unsafe, no the implication from the way he said it was that it was because they loved guns so much that they couldn't bear to be apart from them.

Even in HEAVY OBJECT which was set in a future, unrelated to ToAru, even when the USA was split apart alongside many other nations

The people of Manhattan(weirdly enough)had guns everywhere.

The trope is fine when it's used for humor, in my opinion.

Speaking of guns, I'd like to nominate...basically any type of improper gun handling unless it's being used as an example of what not to do. Firearms make it ridiculously easy to end someone's life and should be treated accordingly.

If at all possible, I'd also like it if modern weapons' destructive power weren't underplayed in media. I realize that budget and/or rating limitations will prevent some works from directly showing just what some of these weapons will do to a human body, but they could at least try not to treat a cruise missile like a firecracker or a .50-cal like a popgun.

Here’s one stereotype or maybe cliche

The extremely selfless, determined and brave hero who keeps on going on about how he’s a “villain” even if he even avoids doing actual “necessary evils”

God damn, it gets annoying whenever I see people online but into that melodramatic shit or act as if they’re completely unique amongst all the other mcs

The terminal ballistics of 50 BMG are generally not as extreme as you might think.

Fair. How survivable is a .50 BMG round to a person?

Actually, now that I think about it, I've seen a lot of water jugs and fruit shot, but I don't think I've seen Forged In Fire tests on human-analogue pig carcasses for firearms. I hesitate to ask because it sounds super-grisly now that I type it out, but does that exist anywhere?

Generally speaking 50BMG FMJ punches a more or less "clean" hole straight through whatever it hits, though it still leaves a hole like a Shotgun Slug. Practically speaking even a clean pass through (i.e. Not striking bone) of this scale is generally immediately debilitating but not, ultimately, impossible to survive.

The very existence of various BMG expanding ammunition suggests that the round is not the end all be all of terminal performance, though I'd still consider even ball FMJ rounds more than sufficient to safely and humanely take any game that walks the earth.

Feds in general get away with a lot, and when you have the Secnav, and sometimes Secdef, as well as your own director on your side... kinda makes you able to get away with lots.

It did a decent job in forensics.

I hate how they always make the police, feds, and military look like complete idiots so the Hero can show them how it is done,
And the former also doing something si stupid that gets them all killed that a normal person would not have done.

Looking at you thay one SWAT scene in one.of the SAW movies
