South Ossetia to Hold a Referendum this Coming July to Join the Russian Federation. Though it comes as the current South Ossetian Leader Anatoly Bibilov lost his election to rival Alan Gagloyev though it doesn't seem likely that the change in relations with Russian is likely.

They would not be able to join. One of the requirements is secured territorial integrity.

Even if South Ossetia did join, there’s still Abkhazia to consider, so unless Georgia is willing to let Abkhazia go, their chances of joining NATO is difficult.

Why should Georgia let Abkhazia go when Abkhazia was much more Georgian than Abkhazian before the Abkhaz ethnically cleansed it right after the Soviet collapse? South Ossetia at least was always heavily Ossetian.
