300 Croatian soldiers defended fortress of Gvozdansko against 10 000 Ottomans for 2,5 months. When Ottomans finally entered the fortress, they found the defenders all dead from hunger or cold. Ferhat-pasha decided to honor the defenders by burying them by Catholic rite.
