So basically at 00:00 UTC on February 1st 2020 a ROB decides to swap the British Isles with the Japanese islands and Taiwan.

Some minor readjustments in latitude and longitude as well as sea currente respective island groups somehow retain their respective climate despite the swap.

What happens?

Top of mind:

Premiership goes bancrupt as there is no TV money from games in European Cup competitions.

Ireland's economy implodes as it is on the other side of the globe from the EU.
British economy also heavily hit, with financial services 8 hours "off" from its European markets.

Taiwan happy as there is no PRC which could invade it - but economically is a mess as it lost all its factories in PRC.

PRC unhappy over disapearance of Taiwan, but happy that the IJN is gone. The RN is a joke in comparison.

Asians actually love to gamble on sports like football and it is not like the other teams can't fly over to the UK and vice-versa.

The UK's primary industry are financial services, and now they are closer to Australia and some of their other former colonies.

Well, they still own them, but the supply chain got stretched.
On the other hand, they are close to ASML and some other key manufacturers that TSMC works with.

But a nuke armed one.

1 - all five football associations from the British Islands get booted from UEFA. I do expect lots of attempts and bending over and rules bending by TV and other sponsors to keep English teams in but, besides opposition from other European associations, there is ...
2 - jet leg. It would be fly in, play, fly out back. I do not imagine this to be sustainable during your typical Sat-Wed-Sat-Wed football season as played by top teams, even having two 11's of almost equal quality (as quite a few clubs have already).

The EPL and SPFL will dominate the Asian club football competion(s), naturaly, But there simply is not enough money in them. The EPL will have to economise - but it has lots of fat to trim.
But a nuke armed one.

Would the current crop of UK politicians let nukes fly with the PLA on British soil?

Never cared that much about the sport, myself, but from what I have seen it gets much of it's revenue, directly or indirectly, from gambling.Ans I don't see why the teams can't go in for longer, for some white and hookers.

Yeah, well, as long as Asians can gemble on something they will, and now they have premier league football in their timezone.

Also, they are still members of NATO and a sovereign country, and Taiwan is de jure not.

The UK had been called the USA's unsinkable aircraft carrier in Europe, now it can be one in Asia.

I am more interested how the EU will react to Japan and Taiwan, industrial powerhouses in their own right, plop right next to it.

I see Taiwan probably wanting to join, and tourism will improve a lot in both diredtions.

And there are lots of potential implications for industrial manufacturing and supply chains.
