Random Crime Stories...

I'd much rather take a jail term or a hanging than mutilation.
That sounds more like a mental deficiency on your part. If I had the choice between spending 10-20 years in prison versus losing a leg, I'd sacrifice the leg without much hesitation. The choice between my legs or my life is even more of a no-brainer.

I don't know what you have against disabled people but I hope you won't enforce those delusions on the rest of us. I'd hate to turn on the news one day and see your face on there for shooting up the paralympics, since death is so preferable to losing a limb in your mind.

The fuck...
Look maybe I took it a bit too far, but unironically stating that death is preferable to dismemberment is batshit insane.

Taking his logic to its inevitable conclusion seemed like the best way to hammer in that his position is fucking insane.

Edit:

It's literally just a step away from the type of logic used to justify the killing of disabled people in the past. The genuine belief that death is preferable to mutilation/disfigurement, would just as easily serve as a justification for the killing of those groups of people.

And that's not a hypothetical, it's literallly been done before and can be done again.

Also I don't really believe in this type of tone policing bullshit, this conservative obsession with sparing people's feelings and not being too harsh is the reason why the right has been losing the culture war for decades now.

Nope, locking people up for 20+ years or killing them is far more barbaric. I don't give a shit if it makes you feel icky but it's a much better punishment both for the criminal and society.

Prison is wasteful and expensive, and I don't know if someone's told you this before but killing people is wrong. The moral harm incurred by the society condemning a person to death, as well as the person who is designated to serve as executioner is too great.

In the case of rape it'd be far more expedient to just remove a leg, it's a proportionate punishment that also makes it much harder for the criminal to reoffend. And it's severe enough to serve as a deterrent for others.

Moreover I think the criminal would also prefer to lose a leg or two, rather than spend a huge portion of his life behind bars or being executed.

TL;DR

Stop being such an ableist pig, losing an arm or a leg isn't the end of the fucking world. But it is quick and expedient, and it does severely reduce your chances of succesfully repeating your crime.
Murdering people is wrong.Killing them is OK,if they are cryminals or enemy during war.

No killing people might sometimes be necessary or legally justifiable but it's never OK.

Again there's not just the physical harm that's done to the person being killed, there's also the moral harm being done to the person that's taking that life. Employing someone to execute other people in cold blood is wrong.

And above all in the case of criminals it's not necessary, there are other alternatives and it's not like the punishments I'm proposing could be considered soft.

There's also the fact that in any sort of justice system that's even remotely effective, there are going to be those unfortunate cases where people are wrongly convicted.

You can compensate an innocent person for wrongful dismemberment, but you can't compensate a person for wrongfully killing them.

Vera Liddell, the sixty eight year old Food Service Director at the Illinois Harvey School District, was sentenced to serve nine years in prison... for stealing $1.5 million dollars worth of chicken wings (over 11,000 cases) from said school district between July 2020 and February 2022, during the height of Covid.

She purchased the large amounts of frozen chicken wings in a school van but they were never delivered to students. A School Audit noticed the discrepancy after realizing food costs were $300,000 over budget months before the school year was to end.

A supposedly mentally ill man tried to rob Chris Bower, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and MMA Instructor from America who was visiting Auckland, New Zealand.

The assailant apparently chased the Man who asked bystanders to call the police to no avail until he retreated into a local Cafe where the staff did call the police. The Assailant then attacked him and led to the result above.

Apparently some bystanders tried to break up the "fight."
