The Greeks were our enemy long before the ottomans came on the scene and subjugated Bulgaria for 2 cdnturies.
Afterwards, they were above us in the Osman pecking order and had control over our church and worked pretty hard to fuck is over.
And that doesn't even get us into the Balkan and World Wars, where they wanted to chop away at our territory, betrayed us multiple times, and made us switching sides or becoming neutral impossible since they wanted to invade us and take lots of our territory.
Frankly, the Turks are preferable, because they have proven less prone to backstabbing, unlike our neighbors to the South and the west and the north, may the worms eat all of them alive.

2.Yes,81% is orthodox - BUT 5% of them go to church every Sunday.
Which mean,that they are not Orthodox.Just as poles who do not go to Church every Sunday are not catholics.

Yes, sadly holding all of EUrasia would require us all to "rediscover" our turkic identity and roots/form a tribal alliance with the slavic tribes.
We kinda managed that in the 9th century thanks to Christianity.
There are some Catholic communities here, and there was a push for more Catholicization, in particular coming from the French around the time of the Crimean War.
There are catholic communities here in some places, notably Rakovski which is predominantly Catholic, but that Catholicization dates farther back.
There is a Catholic church in Sofia, but it is basically ugly modern age design:

Haven't been in it, but from the outside it looks like one of those places your run of the mill american evangelical or other weirdo schismatic new age denomination would inhabit.
Sorry for being unclear - i read once,that catholics tried to create bulgar catholic church in orthodox rite in 19th century,but failed becouse greeks priest and Russia opposed it.
Maybe if your Kings in 9th century become catholics,you would be more efficient.
The pope did not want to budge on the Slavonic rite and Byzantium
was closer and more powerful.
Also, they were actually willing to give us more autonomy, while the pope would have had far more pull with the Bulgarian church.
There were some attempts to get closer to the Pope, iirc under Tzar Kaloyan, temporarily you can say we were carholixa but then the thirsty crusaders came in and things deteriorated, and we reverted back to being Orthodox.

But in any case, i don't have a stake in Balkan conflicts, nor do i have any blood in my line that was lost in it. Nevertheless, just being so simple minded as saying "fuck em" (Greeks and Serbs) - and it seems like many balkaners share your mindset towards their neighbors - is only exasperating and stoking tensions in the region. and who benefits? always need to ask yourself who benefits...

you know, boxers, tennis players, and all sorts of athletes are known to bring in third party trainers to offer an outsider, un biased insight on things and help them become more polished athletes. i'd say the Balkans could benefit from something similar as opposed to the usual bickering and fighting like a bunch of gamecocks
