They have this as a separate game for a reason.Of all the operators to get knocked out and restrained by tentacles, of course it happens to the Japanese women.
I'm curious how this game will work given that like half of rainbow's operation are equipped purely for breaching structures or making structures harder to breach, a skillset that's entirely inapplicable to this scenario. So half the team is reduced to just shooting at stuff, the other half might actually get to use thier various gadgets and abilities, which raises the question of why you would pick the guys that can just shoot.
Just picture Jager setting down an ADS. "You can stop worring about grenades now".
"Of course we can stip worrying about grenades, the zeds don't use grenades, I haven't had to worry about grenades this whole operation."
I'm also not clear on why rainbow is even being called in for this, they're a counterterrorism unit, most of them have a totally different skillset that's not exactly in line with this.....though I guess the spetsnaz guys will fit right in. Fighting zombies is very clearly a job for the regular army.
I'm also not really a fan of the general concept, this is still a Tom Clancy game and having zombies show up in this setting is totally inappropriate. R6 has already caused problems in regards to tone and setting consistency, because they're running around with holograms and laser turrets and nanomachines while Ghost Recon has purely contemporary gear (not even the stealth tech from future solider that they're supposed to be getting by now), having zombies show up just makes that so much worse. It annihilate any pretense of this being a plausible real world setting, from here on, literally anything could happen.
Which would be fine, if the core draw for the tom Clancy setting wasn't it's focus on what could plausibly happen in real life.
They have this as a separate game for a reason.
They also changed some of the operators gadgets
They at least decided to make the operators have interesting tech that makes them different and special.Oh, so I forgot that the whatever they ares are actually caused by some alien space virus. That makes it even worse. No space aliens should be in a Clancy game, that's way past the line, because once you have that, literally anything goes.
The next siege operator could be some lady that uses astral projection to scout the map as a ghost and possess enemy operators or something, and you can no longer object, because any pretense at realism or being grounded in reality is just gone now.
If you didn't know, Ubisoft is catering to the 20% that pays heavily andcatering to the Esports.
Extraction is also independent as they are using Siege for other things
They at least decided to make the operators have interesting tech that makes them different and special.
But no, they wont do that.
Unless Extraction is completely non-canon, and there has been nothing to say it is, the fact that's independent from siege is irrelevant.
They've done non-canon things before.
For example, the Predator mission from Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.
In the clancyverse, it is now confirmed that not only is there life beyond earth, there is potentionally hostile life. This is one of the most world changing events that could ever happen, and not only did we discover life, we discovered hostile life, and that brings in even more questions. Was this virus on accident, or was it on purpose, are these things self aware or just infected monsters? What are the odds a deadly fast evolving alien super plague just so happened to be one the one rock that hit earth? If it wasn't an accident, what happens next, what can we do to face this?
And ubisoft is doing this to...cater to the esports crowd? That makes it worse! They're making massive, fundamental changes to the entire setting just because they can wring a bit more cash out of it and they can reuse assets from that old Halloween event.
The plot of literally every single game going forward should have people saying "Hey, wait a minute, why are we wasting time deal with some regime change in whateveristan, we're at war with space aliens, we need to deal with that!" The entire world is going to change and reorganize overnight, because the existence of alien life, and particularly hostile alien life, changes literally everything. International politics, national forcus, all of that is going to be completely different and utterly disconnected from the real world that the clancy setting used to be about.
Unless Extraction is completely non-canon, and there has been nothing to say it is, the fact that's independent from siege is irrelevant.
They won't do that because....why? Because it doesn't fit the tone of their sci fi alien fighting franchise? Because it's not logically consistent that people can use psi powers to fight space aliens?
This is the problem with introducing something like space aliens to a setting that is supposed to be grounded in reality, it means that the old constraints are gone now. You can't say "oh, they wouldn't do that", because there are no more rules on what they can and cannot do now.
From what I understand Extraction is a continuation of the Outbreak game mode they had for fun and to introduce two new characters. They've done non-canon things before.
For example, the Predator mission from Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Extraction is its own separate universe from the Siege and R6 games. It is a continuation of a single event.
You are freaking the fuck out and overreacting.
Ubisoft has shown that for the normal R6 universe, they are having Siege basically be advanced training for the operators, every now and then being sent to deal with actual things. With Sam Fisherjoining the team as a trainer basically.
I mean, there was End war.I haven't seen anything to that effect from ubisoft.
I'm not overeacting or freaking out. I have no interest in R6 or most of ubisofts clancy titles. I'm just annoyed by the disrespect being show toward the franchise and setting.
I am aware of the premise of R6 Siege.
