I responded to a guy who worried that leftist typhoid marys would infiltrate the protests to spread the disease. He should be way more worried about the numbnuts who are walking around larping as 1920 race rioters.

In the 20s and thirties angry whites would descend on cities to protest leftist politicians and uppidy minorities. Cue the lynchings. This isn't a new phenomenon
The later half of the 1910s and the 1920s saw the early horrors of the soviet union, you also had quite a few attempts by socialist and far left groups to over throw various governments and quite a few acts of left wing terrorism such as assaults, murders, distruction of private property that kind of thing.
It is in that context that you have a lot of people who were quite reasonably leery of left wing politics notably communist and socialist polititions.
I am also surprised that you want to bring up that comparison when talking about minorities because it was a democrat president Woodrow Wilson who resegergated the military.
I want to repeat that, before Wilson the military was already desegregated, the democrats were the ones who publically undid 40 years of progress on that front, and he kept this policy up during a time of war when the nation needed all hands on deck. It took until 1948 until Truman desegregated the military...which you know good for the dems cleaning up the mess they created in the first place..
I mean if Woodrow had simply minded his own business and not fucked with the armed services we could have done the whole civil rights thing a generation earlier but you know you take what progress you can.

Wilson won because the Republicans were split between the business wing and the progressive wing. The business side one and the progressives went to the dems. Please tell me you've at least tried to research the party systems. As for the race riots,most of it was directed against blacks, let's not kid ourselves

And if the republicans didnt send the freaking airborn to desegegate the schools, and the fact that the only reason the civil rights act passed was because the republicans vastly supported it over the democrats in massive numbers.
As for Reagan the guy fucked up a lot on a whole lot of things, I think his fiscal irresponsibilty lead to the explosion of the national debt that we are still dealing with. His gutting of the mental health services helped make cali's homeless problem the problem it is today, and he was dead wrong on gun rights.
And yes he did fuck up the aids crisis but the entire world fucked up on that one.

The parties flipped, Nixon's southern strategy literally absorbed most real blue dog democrats.. The former segregationists in the DNC should go sure, but in reality they were just opportunists who believe in nothing. The only color they care about is green.
The fact that so few segergationists fliped is proof that your wrong.
You had people who were open segergationists that served until 2010s in the democratic party, Biden is on tape prasing his own ability to work with segergationists. (His defense of that record was weak in my opinion but whatever). If there was a party flip on the issue then there should have been a lot more defections.
There also should be a lot fewer democrats getting caught with blackface....seriously whats up with that I dont see the apeal at all.

They considered themselves so pure and holy that such base concerns as racism could never apply to them so they feel free to do and say whatever they want without consequences.
But now your life can be ruined by things that were considered completely fine at the time but by modern hyper sensitive standards are completely unacceptable.
It's entirely their own fault since they spearheaded the whole rush to judgement/retroactively destroy people culture in a attempt to crush their opponents.
They just never considered that there would come a time where a new generation would be so totally brainwashed by such ridiculous standards that they themselves couldn't pass the insane level of purity testing they brought into existence.

The civil rights era wasn't at all a good look for southern democrats. It's no mystery why their kids might want to leave their parents party.
Of course this was spun as the Republicans becoming racist instead of the racist party losing membership but whatever. Spinners gonna spin.
Depressing how many people just buy that nonsense and do no critical thinking whatsoever and just regurgitate what they're told.

The democrats weren’t against China because being against China is racist, it plays well with the avocado toast/Starbucks demographic of champagne socialists to not be against them, and because orange man bad.
At the same time, they were always and have always been against China because bad orange man wasn’t hard enough on China and it plays well to the American public to be against China.
Therefore they were always against China, while never being against China.
