peter Zeihan 2020

By all means feel free to share your thoughts on this here. I know I for one would appreciate it.
The immediate one is that his decision to quit Twitter (I refuse to call it X) coincided with the Disney-spearheaded boycott. He's had several months to decide that Musk has gone too far or that the service has degraded as much as he says it has. The timing is suspicious, not just coinciding with the boycott, but with an insider connected boycott.

His Ukrainian responses may just be to the current tenor of discussion, but he has been increasingly insistent that the war is actually not costing the US much of anything as criticisms against said costs increase. He's also evolved his opinion on illegal immigration from "Its bad, but less bad than you think" to "Its good actually" which may be an organic change of opinion but its happening alongside the neocon divorce from the rest of the Republican party so the timing is there.

He's also started massaging Biden more and more as time goes on. That again, may just be the water he swims in, but between that and his insistence that China is a cult of personality frequently feels like hope casting.

Apparently Cindy Crawford read one of Peter's book, and there's going to be an updated version of Accidental Super Power where Peter looks back and explains what he got wrong:

Peter's taking the holidays off, dropping videos that basically give the Cliff Notes version of The End of the World is Just the Beginning:

Israel and Saudi Arabia will ally to handle the Middle East so the US can have some influence, Japan will be around to troll the Chinese.

Iran-backed group attacks Russian/Chinese-backed ships….. Yeah sounds good I will grab the popcorn. Why do I not trust Chinese backed insurance paying out?

Aren't the Iranians backed by the Russians/Chinese?

Seems like a dumb move.
It is. Though I think Iran may play the "We didn't know they would attack you" card.

I doubt if that will work. The question though is if the US will do anything about it or will they simply say fuck it we are no longer the world police.

essentially it looks like the most likely reason why you have India doing assanations is because some one in their very large buracracy went mad with power. Which considering the shear fucking over size of their bloated government is entirely possible and not something I can judge india too harshly for because our own political system has people like that too.

Peter Zeihan's latest is about Argentina in a post-American world(part of a series he's doing). He mentions Brazil in the video... and boy, he has some hot takes(with which I partly disagree at best).

I'm not exactly bullish on their abilty to potentially take back the falklands.

Depends on who they're fighting. The British military is even more of shell then it was in the 80's, thanks to a mix of budget reduction as well as wokeness quotas and ideology being put in place of practical training.

Review/Critique of Zeilhan, mostly looking at his general China claims.

A lot of his data seems suspect; like when he compares America's and China's navies based solely on the total number of ships, ignoring both what kind of ships they are, and their quality. For example, note that even the graph he uses as evidence points out that China counts patrol crafts as part of their Navy, while America does not. And this is not equalized by the fact that the latter counts auxiliary and support crafts, while China does not; because not only are they far fewer in number, many of those, unlike the over 100 coast guard ships China counts as part of their Navy, actually help with force projection. Which is really important for protecting trade routes.
