NYC buyback nets 44 "guns"

Confronted by rising crime, a brain drain of wealthy residents, and economic paralysis caused by shutting everything down, NYC city leaders responded by organizing a gun buyback.
Local news breathlessly described the stunning results:
A gun buyback program Saturday yielded a “wonderful” bumper crop of deadly weapons, with a Queens church predicting the drop-off of 44 weapons would help ease a crime spike that’s hit the city this summer.
Indeed, the turning over of 44 guns from many possible sources is sure to reverse the trend brought on by a global pandemic and months of Corporate-endorsed faux-revolutionary rioting.
“That’s one less gun out on the street, that’s one less gun that these (police) officers and this community has to worry about,” said Rev. Evan D. Gray of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
The community should be more concerned by the mobs of young people who don't have guns that have been burning down anything of value these past few months, but what do I know?
Oh, and how about the thousands of new guns people have been buying as a result of present hysteria?
“The way to bring down crime is to be active on the ground,” Jones said. “This is a step in the right direction but it’s going to take more of us coming together.”
It also helps not to scorn police.
“Every one of these guns that you see here is a gun that is not going to be used in a shooting,” Katz said.

That implies they were ever going to be used period at any point in recent years, you silly goose!

Observe that most of these guns are revolvers, many of which seem to be those "saturday night specials" that caused a stir in the 60's.
More notably:
-Top row, fourth from the left and 3rd row, 5th from the left appear to be antique toy guns, unless they're supposed to be chambered in 22SR or something like that.
-3rd row, 4th from the left is missing part of it's grip. Can't imagine trying to fire that.
An Eagle-eyed commenter also pointed out this oddity:

It's a good thing Cole Younger's 1858 Remington is off the street. i guess the pervious owner didn't realize that cap and ball is the only ammo on the shelves right now.

And if you'd been examining the picture closely, you'd notice something much more interesting in the lower right hand corner.
Here's a close-up from another angle to help you out:

How relieving to see those deadly assault airsoft guns off the streets of New York!

In conclusion, NYC authorities continue to be punked.

An amusing particularity of this buyback (and in general): Paying more than guns are worth.
The top-right of the table, first row, at this one looks to have what I think is a Hi-Point. Which, at least before all the craziness, were ~$150 guns. NYC was giving out $200. The only reason NY lacks more people taking advantage of that is because of their hyper-restrictive bullshit on even purchasing firearms in the first place.
Considering the typical policy of these 'buybacks is 'no questions asked'* (a policy with pretty massive problems on its face with even a moments thought considering it might be CRIMINAL ARMS getting turned in to be MELTED DOWN), then one could if they lived in, say, Jersey or somewhere close to New York, hypothetically, make a decent return on investment by buying-up shit-pistols, new or used, and providing them for the $200 reward.
It's not gun-running, you're doing a 'public service' to the state!

*Yeah:
To turn in a gun for $200, first call your local police precinct for instructions on how to participate in the Cash for Guns program. You do not have to identify yourself and you will not be asked any questions.

These programs are stupid even from a perspective that thinks guns are mythical crime-causing objects that are cursed with enraging spells by the nefarious wizards who make them.

If it was a public-event as some of them do, it would make for a decent gun-show and private sale opportunity, though.
Why sell your long-rifle to the cops for $25, or a Glock 17 to them for $200 when someone--even perhaps someone with a CCL who you know has had a background check!--is offering you a Benjamin for the rifle and $300 for the Glock? Person who wants to get rid of their guns gets rid of them, person who wants the gun gets them, and the taxpayer is saved money! Everyone wins!
