New Addams Family Series "Wednesday"

First trailer has dropped. I'm cautiously optimistic. The Piranhas are certainly a nice touch. Though... I'm not really seeing any funny and the Addams don't work if it's all doom and gloom, they need that macabre humor. So... cautious.

I always liked the live action movies. They did a good job a taking something like a summer camp movie and putting the adam family twist to it. Even the new animated movies are not bad even if they moved the target audience lower then past iterations.

So while the trailer doesn't make me jump for joy it does make it look like they are at least trying to stay true to the original works.

So a new trailer dropped a a couple of weeks ago for the T.V. show. Overall it seems like they are taking the Sabina the Teenage Witch route. Which makes sense that was a popular show even of I found the woke feminist stuff painful. But at least Tim Burton is doing it and he is about the only director that I think could capture the Adams Family right.



So while it is aimed at teens more then adults I am kind of hopeful it will be worth watching.

Ya the live action movies where good. The Adams Family is more then just gothic dress up. It also takes talent to pull off the dry humor that the Adams Family uses.

Thematically perhaps, but about half his filmography is utter garbage; meaning it's a coin flip as to whether or not this show is going to be any good.

I would rate him as a better then average director. I like most of movies but I feel that he is kind of one note. Movies like Corpse Bride is something he execls at but with something like Planet of the Apes he is out of his deph. So I am kind of hopeful since an Adams Family t.v. show should be in his wheel house.

I am actually more worried about it being targeted at teen girls. I get a lot of flashs of shows like Vampire Dairys, Legacies, and other simlar shows. I hope it won't be a major teenage drama cringe fest but it is also Netflix and they have pumping out teenage girl highschool shows with stuff like The School for Good and Evil being the most recent.

I watched the show and liked it.

Jenna Ortega is a decent Wednesday. The poltline's mystery is decent with some good foreshadowing along with muiliple suspects for the murders.

There is some woke stuff but it is mainly overshadowed and compared to other stuff coming mainly a non factor. Most of it comes in throw away lines like My Truth and other catchphrases from Emma Myers who plays Eind Wednesday's roommate.

It also has a line where Wednesday ask if some one is mansplaining and the guy comes back with no my father the world renoun experts says this. So overall while there can be ignored.

The set and mood of the show is very simlar to the 1990s Adams Family movies and it reminds me of the scene with Wednesday at camp.

I will note that it is targeted at teenage girls and takes place in highschool. So you do get teen drama but also unlike shows like Legacies, Fort Salem with simalr fantasy highschool shows romance is only a minor bit. Also the mean popular girl is a somewhat interesting character by the end of the season.
