Near-Specific Request: Unintended Conquerors & Empire Builders

Basically, anybody got series wherein a person or a faction ends up taking power or increasingly taking power without really planning or wanting to.

Like, they're not the warmongering or ambitious types, but they keep getting caught up in wars or being suspected of it, only for them to have to fight and reluctantly have to do politicking and take over some areas and maybe be surprisingly benevolent while at it because they weren't power hungry and just thrust into the positions they didn't want but saw that if they refused, they would be responsible for more suffering

Or they got a growing settlement or are the owners of the best resources and technology. Other people attack them, lose and the guys reluctantly try taking over for them after showing mercy.

This maybe increases as reputation for said(unwanted)conquests increase

Optionally: No war's needed as some guys try migrating or even surrendering their lands to them in the hopes that things get better

Tanya von Degurachoff is a near perfect example, as is Ciaphus Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM!

The only issue is that they're not in charge at the top, just soldiers.

From what I know, she just wants a nice comfy job wherein she doesn’t have trouble

Instead she keeps being put into these combat roles

Exactly, then they end up conquering everything while attempting to get to safety.

Klaus from girl genius I think.

Just wants to get his science on but everyone is at war with everyone else. So to make things better for everyone he starts stomping people and making them play nice.

And it worked.

But people keep getting up to trouble so he has to keep stomping and suddenly he is in control of a empire covering most of Europe.

He has to politic and scheme and diplomatize and he hates every second of it but it's still better than constant war so he puts up with it even though he would rather just be in his lab sciencing.
