I do wonder if any actual goverment has ever been REAL SOCIALISM! or REAL COMMUNISM!, fact is that everyone has their own interpretation of the concept, one that is quite removed from the actual goals and theory behind it. Frankly the only real versions are those named after they disappear and therefore can be studied based in what they were instead of what they were supposed to be.
Im a big fan of getting the socialists together putting them on an island and telling them your in charge of this place go figure out your socialsm and making it work here.
Instead of them fucking up yet another country.

Ironically enough it is possible, even likely, they would make it work. Economic theories like socialism and communism work better in small closed systems such as an island with limited resources than large nations which introduce too many variables for the goverment system to work as intended.

Yeah, but many of the first generation socialists were people who due to their political leanings faced both violence and economical woes in the middle of their cruzade. When they fail they do it because they can't make the mental shift of governing actual people with actual needs and vices instead of their neat economic theories which assume everyone will work towards the greater good without misunderstandings or greed, or worse, they actually adapt far too well to the shark tank and betray their own ideology.
On the other those comming from the second and third generation of socialist leadership are usually monsters far too used of not having any checks or balances to limit their power and those are the ones that can make an imperfect but workable system into a nightmare capable of breaking countries.

Actually communism/socialism does benefit the non disidents.
For a short period of time until they run out of other peoples money and collapse. Look at Vensula there were a few good years where every one touted it as the future. Then they collapsed the system and now their eating garbage. If you want to understand the rank and file who support it its this.
Their losers, maybe their lazy, maybe their stupid maybe their assholes who cant put their personal shit aside to hold down a job but their losers. Yes socialism will end with them eating out of the trash but they do not give a shit because they will get a few good years before that happens.
If you ever deal with socialists in real life you will notice their the most selfish people you will ever meet.

And that's not limited to communism/socialism. Take Mexico's example, technically we are a capitalist democracy but during the last four administrations the politicians have been doing a combination of gross corruption and vote buying. They do this mostly through support programs that give money to the poor directly, instead of using the resources to create additional jobs aimed to the people in need or to reinforce the other more practical institutions in the country, in the process funneling millions to the pockets of every politician and burocrat involved.
Add to that useless infrastructure spending (we got an incomplete and abandoned train line outside my city and the current president's pet proyect was to cancel the already partially paid new airport and refurbishing a small military strip into a large civilian one instead), and crime reaching unheard levels of murder and mayhem and we got a country that would fit with the communist block in the lasts days of the Cold War.
