The Army has taken over Burkina Faso, an arid, landlocked country located in West Africa. President Roch Kabore who was elected to power in November 2015 (in the wake of an earlier coup that September which stood down) has been deposed, the Constitution suspended, government and assembly dissolved and borders closed. Military spokesmen under the guise of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration or MPSR have announced this action was taken due to the governments inability to deal with the ongoing Islamic insurgency, in the days leading to the coup instability arising as the military demanded more government support in the ongoing efforts to battle said insurgency. Also cited was a general inability to unite the nation to respond to the challenges the nation faced.

The coup leaders have also stated they will restore Constitutional Order after a period of time and enacting a nationwide night time curfew. As stated earlier, Burkina Faso's last coup took place in 2015 though the military coup leaders quickly stepped down and elections took place within a few months afterwards. There have been coups in several nearby countries as well, including Mali, Guinea and Chad.

Reuters is reporting today that there are crowds of upwards of a thousand people celebrating in the streets in support of the recent coup.

SABC News said:
The fifth coup in West and Central Africa this decade comes amid an increasingly bloody Islamist insurgency that has killed thousands and displaced millions across the Sahel region, eroding faith in democratic leaders to combat the problem.

President Emmanuel Macron of France has also announced that the deposed President Kamore is in good health but was forced to resign his Presidency. The United Nations, African Union, ECOWAS and international partners such as France and the United States have condemned the coup, as the ongoing pro-coup crowds were seen waving Russian flags and burning French ones reportedly.

SABC News said:
Russian flags were also seen dotting the crowd, and several demonstrators called on Moscow to replace France in the fight against jihadists. After nine years, France is in the process of drawing down its force of thousands of soldiers in the region. Russian military trainers and contractors are already operating in Mali, much to the consternation of France and its western allies.

Random Update.

It appears that its not all lol fail with these recent military coup usurped West African nations in regards to combating the Islamist terrorists plaguing their lands. In a large scale battle Burkina Faso apparently utilized their Turkish Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs to Strike at the Islamist Militants in a three hour battle.
