In happier news perhaps... Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced in a California court to sixteen years in prison for rape and sexual assault. This is in addition to the current twenty three year sentence he's serving in New York after a 2020 sentencing for rape and sexual assault. The Los Angeles Judge stated this sentence was to be served consecutively after the New York Sentence, so essentially a thirty nine year combined sentence for the now seventy year old man.

Good. Now they just need to investigate James Gunn.

My opinion on justice is that prison *should* focus on rehabilitation because it’s good for society to help someone turn their life around and become an upstanding member of society. However, those who cannot or will not be rehabilitated should be removed.
Apperently those who commit sexual crimes are the easiest to rehabilitate.
Apperently.

Apperently.

Not when it's multiple or serial rape. Serial rapists and serial killers are impossible to truly rehabilitate (although they sometimes fake it only to resurface later), which is why I believe these specific offenses should actually be an automatic death sentence.

I understand what you're saying, and the thing is that it *is* true that sex offender recidivism rates fall below the average for criminals. That is why I am specifically saying serial killers and serial rapists, which are a specific subcategory not broken out in general crime statistics.

Sex offenses include things like "Nature called, I answered, and someone saw me". The numbers are inflated by all of the people who got arrested for relieving their bladders and/or intestines in public when they couldn't get to or didn't have access to a toilet.

That could be you at a moment's notice.

Basically, teens can be tried for distribution of CSAM (Can't call ot CP anymore as Porn is a prefressiom) when they become adults if you follow letter of the law

Blindly following the letter of the law like the authoritarians they are, and/or inflating conviction counts for reelection season.
Years ago some prosecutor (in Kansas? IIRC) charged a pair of kids with statutory rape as adults because the 12yr old boy got the 13yr old girl pregnant. The prosecutor got a conviction (the boy was found guilty).

The Governer stepped in and pardoned the boy for something he never should have been charged with in the first place and which the Judge should have just plain dismissed with prejudice while referring the prosecutor to the state bar for misconduct.

Also stupid teens who take nude selfies of themselves.

An 18 year old who turned 18 three months prior and a 17/16 hear old girlfriend with the parents of the girl having a deep seeded hate of the boy exploiting statutory rape laws.

And my personal favorite. "Accuse a boy you don't like of rape and let the useless school admins and popo arrest him and batter him because you don't like him."

That one happened to a kid on our JV football team. He ended up committing suicide over that.

You can be charged as a sexpest with disturbing ease. Actual pedos need to be dragged behind f150's over a cactus patch but the laws themselves are big autistic.

Lolwut? How is the boy not the victim then? If the girl was the older one?

That's insane on multiple levels.

They don't even need to wait for them to become adults. The cases I'm thinking of all involved minors who "produced child pornography" by taking said nude selfies, and "distributed" it by sending it to another minor. IIRC, there was even a case where a girl sent it to a boy she liked to try and get him to like her, and he shared it around school, and to add insult to injury, she was charged with a crime. Looked it up.

But there are plenty of cases just in general, and the kid doesn't even have to be dumb enough to share the pics, they can just have them on their phone or computer. It's absurd, especially in the cases where they end up having to register as a sex offender and are barred from being around minors when they themselves are a minor, and now can't even go to school to finish getting a diploma.
