The universe would have been very different. IIRC even the lamps themselves couldn't have existed without Melkor.

Hey, is it weird that I think that Arda underwent its own equivalent of ages involving dinosaurs, giant invertebrates, giant mammals etc before Elves & Dwarves popped up and that Humans evolved
