who would win this fight?
Doomslayer is cartoonishly inconsistent, Making use of a half dozen guns not vastly out of line with modern counterparts one moment and firing himself out of a railgun to smash through entire buildings without a scratch the next. Some of his physical feats would imply that his fists or a handful of gravel to throw at his enemies would be more effective than guns, but he goes out of his way to get the guns and seems to think they're useful.
One would think that he would want to kill demons better, rather than screwing around and wasting timeSeems like he uses guns because he likes them , rather than because he actually needs them .
UAC Codex on Chaingun said:The Delta-12 Chaingun (often referred to as "The D12" by operatives) is a high velocity heavy weapon capable of suppressing multiple targets at once. Recent changes to the firing mechanism have pushed the Delta-12 to the physical limits of a ballistic weapon. An Argent infused piston compresses gas within the firing crucible to over 220,000 PSI. When released, this launches a 15mm Tungsten Slug with muzzle velocity of nearly 5,000 feet per second. The heat generated by this action is syphoned into a thermal gel compound that automatically recharges the 96volt battery pack. This allows the weapon to sustain an almost endless firing cycle, as long as ammunition is present. The Delta-12 Chaingun weighs 45kg, making it a lethal but cumbersome armament.
UAC Codex on Heavy Assault Rifle said:The weapon is effective at all engagement distances, and is best used against a solitary target, unless a micro missile modification is present. The standard issue ammunition is a .50 caliber FMJ round.
UAC Codex on Praetor Suit said:The suit was extracted from the rock, cleaned, and subjected to numerous tolerance tests, and found to be almost impervious to any damage. It appeared to have some mechanical function as well - small receptors on the gloves and chest plate that attracted Argent plasma and dissipated it through capillary tubes in the substructure. Markings on the armor were also consistent with images of a man (or humanoid) seen in several tablets and stones found on other expeditions. The same markings were also noted on the Helix Stone. Despite it being clear that the suit can be activated in some way, no method has been found to do it. It appears to be missing a component, likely the Doom Marine himself.
With Doom Slayer, he might just be "another" FPS guy but his glory kill animations and the background lore snippets seem to be what pushes him so high.
The codex entries could be considered hyperbole but it seems pretty well established in the lore that he was literally trapped in a sarcophagus specifically because he was such an unstoppable threat. So regardless of the game mechanics arguments, he was obviously a formidable combatant.
In regards to weapons, the Doom weapons do have the scifi upgrades you see in a lot of shooter games.
There's also the Slayer Testaments for the (potentially reinforcing but also potentially hyperbolic) lore.
I'm guessing that the Spartan might be comparable in some feats. Though I don't think he's on the level of ripping horns out of giant monsters heads and pulping skulls until they explode with single punches. And while the Spartan is a buzzsaw through lesser troops, the Doom Slayer is typically seen as a buzzsaw through vast swaths of Demonry, his equals not being mere Shangheili, Mekgolo or Brute equivalents but bosses like those zany Cyberdemons.
I thought we had some Halo-ites on here who could provide some input on our glorious Master Chief and his attributes and capabilities, especially now that the quarantined world is busy fighting off a Hell Invasion.
Also something I stumbled upon from about eight years ago apparently...
Granted it's more Doom Guy from the older games then the Doom Slayer of the 2016 and Eternal fame, but still... mildly entertaining despite all of the High End Feats wankery analysis this channel apparently enjoys reveling in.
