So the remake is back for season too and is being shown on Crunchyroll.

Overall it has mainly been a fairly on the rails remake meaning if you have watched the older version there will not be many surprises. But the voice acting is strong and the animation is well done with little stock footage repeated. So for fans of the series or newcomers it is well worth the watch.

For those that have not seen the show it is a classic Space Opera. On one side you have the Empire facing of the Free Palnets Alliance which broke off from the Emipre over a hundred years ago. The cast focuses on two military geniuses with a wide range of supporting characters from love interests to commanding officers. The show deals with a never ending war from stretched logistics, war weariness, massive battles and the politics surrounding the war.

Now on to season two.

The first season ends with the Empire and Reinhard von Lohengramm pushing back the Free Planets Alliance's massive attack. The second season picks up in the climatic battle being the two strategic powers houses Lohengramm and Wen-li. The next few episodes should cover the fall out from Lohengramm winning and his rasing power against the Old Blood and Nobels. We also see the end of the current ruling that dynasty. While Wen-li will have to deal with the fallout of being the hero of a doomed invasion and a government that just resigned in disgrace.

I am looking forward to seeing if they made any changes made and what happens during the Emprie's oncoming civil war as Lohengramm tries to gain enough power to change the Empire.

Ooooo, was wondering when the next load of episodes would come as the first updated season was great.

The first episode is open to free accounts on Crunchyroll with the second being there for paid members.

I am just happy to have a non isekai harem anime that have oversaturated everything the last few years.

Hm, personally, never had an issue with isekai's. Just the fact so many of them are cookie-cutter and boring and lack any form of uniqueness. Which is probably why "Reincarnated as X" is so popular as the character isn't a black-haired apathy radiator.

I watch a couple but I do agree they are mainly only cookie cutter with bland plotlines. I just want my Legend of the Galactic Heroes or Outlaw Stars.

What do you think of the redone graphics?

Overall I am impressed with them. So far it looks like the studio has put enough money to cut down on stock footage. Also while new they have done a good job not having the overdone shiny effect that ruins some anime. Overall it gives a fairly realistic look to the show.

Bloody gorgeous to be entirely honest, like, the first time I saw the red ship used by the assistant to the main Empire guy. My immediate thought was to pause it and then just laugh to myself while I thought of it as a "Ferrari" as boy was that ship a sleek, crimson beauty.

To true the opening alone is enough to show the effort they have put into the remake.

I do like that the animators keep the same design philosophy with each sides fighters too. You can tell that space fighters belong to the Free Planets Alliance at a glance in the end of season 1.

I don't think they have any DVDs of it out yet. As it stands season 1 was only 12 episodes and the second season only has 2 episodes out right now. But as I have mentioned it is free to watch it all on Crunchyroll legally.

So I have finally finished the second season. So far the production values are still top notch.

Overall I am enjoying it but the show is mainly a one for one redo. But the second season allows a glimpse into the poltics that made the background to the war so interesting. We also see Earth acting though proxies a bit sooner then the old show. We also get to see how the Free Planets Allience has a hidden rot come to light.

Overall still a show for any Space Opera fan

Honestly, having it be a one for one redo isn't a bad plan; the original is widely accepted to be a masterpiece, so the increased production value provided by modern technology is just about the only thing a modern remake could offer.

True and it has been about 30 years so it is mainly an entirely new audience too.

I do have to admit that decent levels of animation do matter to me. It is the reason that I just can't get into shows like Steven Universe, the art style just ruins it for me. So the old one is not bad you can tell the time period and it is dated especially on newer TVs. A new look should help bring some new life to the franchise.
