It feels like an adolescent genre that holds contempt for media aimed an age bracket lower but not familiar with those of level or above that doesn't reek of reading teen who got into their assigned reading. Or fell to the dark side of impossible people or hobbits into terms of novel need exposure

It's basically a statement of agreement. However, what tvtropes called "rational fiction" inside the areas for original fiction seems to be less childish, but also vaguely off in their conception of human behavior.

Sorry, those are just my thoughts regarding fics with “serious” protagonists who keep getting extremely powerful and gaining virtually every power and skill available. Also, isekai

I honestly prefer MCs with a somewhat more “limited” powerset

Yeah, they seem vaguely robotic. Then there are the ones that are just vehicles for transhumanist power fantasies.
