ASOIAF/GOT Jaime Lannister did not become a Kingsguard in the Tourney of Harrenhall and was betrothed to Lysa?

Presume that something occurs to make him less impressive for the White Cloak and Tywin perhaps arranges a marriage between him and Lysa after he had a talk with Hoster

How do things spiral from there? Does Tywin work with STAB(Stark, Tully, Arryn & Baratheon) and turn it into BLAST(Baratheon, Lannister, Arryn, Stark & Tully)?

Does Jon Arryn have a harder time joining up without a marriage which is a prerequisite to officialise an alliance?

Does the Reach and Dorne and the Crownlands decide "This is suicide, we're gonna fucking die"?

Jon Arryn was the shaker and mover of the plot to topple the dragons; he doesn't need to join, he's already in on the whole thing.

Tywin would still want to see Cersei as queen, though he might settle for the Riverlands if Tullys get attained for treason.

Whoever gives him the better offer I guess...

You sure he doesn’t need to marry?

Hoster Tully has two daughters, one goes to Starks, if the other goes to Lannisters, well, there's none left...

I suppose Catelyn could go to the Vale instead of Winterfel, since the North would be committed via Lyanna-Bobby B union...

But if that one is skipped and Bobby marries Cersei, the North might just stay loyalist, they have no beef with the Crown and the dragons were religiously tolerant, so preferable to all-Andal sevener regime.

With the North declaring for the Targs, the Riverlands must leave a good chunk of their army at the border, the Bloody Gate can likewise work both ways bottling the Vale up.

Tywin was too deeply slighted by Aerys to ever join, the only thing I can think of is if Rheagar offers to Wed Cersei as a third wife...but I'm pretty sure Tywin would shoot that down from orbit. He might just back his son, out of a sense of family duty and settle for seeing a granddaughter on the throne.

Or sit it out entirely.

I doubt they'd declare for the Targs, Aerys was clearly bugfuck insane and the North had two modes of dealing with civil wars down South of the border.

"Ain't our problem"

And

"That's a real nice civil war you have there, be a shame if I ruined it by fucking killing everyone"

Cregan Stark's concept of being on the side of the Blacks amounted to "But I'm still going to ruinate everyone for the crime of making me ride my ass down to this shithole to deal with you fools".

Ned Stark is the only exception to that rule besides his son and in both cases it was due to them being far more culturally Arryn than Stark.

Assuming Rickard and Bran aren't the "Hey, lets go absolutely ruin everyone's shit for annoying us with their civil war" variety. They'll probably just sit the entire damn war out.

Could see Eddard and Benjen riding South due to their emotional ties to the Vale but I really doubt they'll get involved.

Eddard might drag some young, up and coming nobles with him. The Great John, some Manderlys and maybe even a Roose Bolton whose looking to advance himself by shenanigans. There might be a "Company of the Wolf and Giant" or someshit..fighting as Bobby B's honorguard and given Eddard's skills as a general, I could see him becoming very well liked and well known.

I would be, fucking awesome to a brawl between Prime Great Jon and Lewin or Selmy...But that's the extent of it.

If Rickard swings the other way..hohohohohoho....holy fuck

Roose from what I can tell is an “only child” and we don’t know what happened to his parents or why he doesn’t have siblings or cousins

If his parents are around, they might not want him needlessly getting himself killed

Also, by shenanigans I guess you mean backstabbing and some longterm plot to become Lord Paramount of the North?

What are you talking about? his whole extended family is here in the royal haul! Why, you're sitting on his mother as we speak! What don't like the furniture? I assure you! She won't mind! zaru.png

Nah, Roose showed zero inclination to replace the Starks until Robb started acting like a fucking doofus. Shenenigans might mean getting himself knighted, slaughtering a metric fuckton of merchants and appropriating their wealth and sending it back home..etc.

Maybe availing himself of prima nocta on some cadet branches of the House of Lannister...And maybe siring a few bastards.

Y'know, Oberyn meets Hannibal Lecter basically.

I think I recall Roose subtly getting other House’s men killed en masse and needlessly executing prisoners, may have been for pragmatism and the latter for fun

I don’t think Prima Nocta is something to do on nobility

That said, in a war, most Lords and Knights would probably “join in”

And he won’t bring them home
