Must like when growing up and my parents would say something about white people think this or this is what it's like for black people I would be a bit put off. But I couldn't entirely dismiss their advice I'd like the number one problem whenever statements like these are made is well I understand they are being prejudiced is not for necessarily an entirely condemned active reason
At the very least points two distinct and very likely shared experiences along each or at least Trends in each group. But that said it would be ridiculous to say that white people can't be rejecting out of a visceral emotional reaction to the abuses of an institution. And especially that minorities women and people of color lgbtq can't be or often come off as sanctimonious assholes who Embrace Pride as a rejection of moral condemnation
When it comes to nerd culture I think this is the big thing that's happening because a lot of people want to use media as a new way of exploring or at the very least validating their lifestyle and decisions and their culture comes very prepackaged especially with a lot of good versus evil and a little bit of philosophy but not too much that you actually have to study be disciplined and think
See the television show The good place which for all of its moral posturing had a main character that was up and sexually harassing another main character but because it was Woman versus woman that was okay because the main object was to make people who don't think about their base conceptions of Heaven uncomfortable and tricking teased while sidestepping any real examination or participation in ethics and philosophy
this is a bit off for me as the show continued and if pretended that I was taking on serious questions. Made more so when it would set up a straw man just so that it could talk about how clever it was for deconstructing this or that position
But that's just one example I'm sure people can point to others. But ultimately I think that's that the heart of social media social justice disagreements some people want to use New Media and share pop culture identity globalism in all of that to forge a new morality that will hopefully immunize themselves from the oppressive abuse or just abandonment that they felt just for having their identity. Others just want to feel the power and intellectual exercise of being able to define a new morality / identity whether that through a communal sense of Ethics or a new religion or what have you
Anyone think I'm onto something?
