Breaking News Hong Kong Debacle is Over!!! Or is it?

Hong Kong's Extradition Bill is Withdrawn!!!

After three months of sweat, tears, and blood of demonstration by the population, the planned extradition bill in Hong Kong is finally withdrawn. The withdrawal is a result, among others, due to the falling stock due to disturbance in the daily activities in Hong Kong proper.

Even then, the fact remains that this is just an opening gambit by the Chinese government to truly bring Hong Kong into the fold. Will this withdrawal bring an impetus for democratization for Hong Kong or a stronger response from the Ruling Party will have to be seen in the future.

Not really a war I'd care to fight. I'd rather give people what they want by letting the commies go live in a commie country and freedom-loving people come live in the USA. ;)

The USA has about 3 serious commies total, so that one might be doable.

Not that China could really be called... well I mean its the kind of Communism I hate anyway (fucking oligarchic bastards) but now its gone into full on "State Capitalism" mode and sells its cheap labour to the USA and everyone else whilst using ideology as a smokescreen to keep the elites in power.

Hell it suppressed the young Maoist movement recently because they wanted stuff like workers rights and non-exploitative practices.

You'll find precious little support for china in most leftists.

This. The PRC is a literal fascist state that warehouses people in concentration camps, cuts up political dissidents to sell their organs to wealthy Westerners, has appalling labor laws, has installed facial-recognition cameras everywhere, has conspired with megacorps to try and censor the internet, exports cheap plastic junk that smells like chemical death, and has spent the past few decades munchkining their way into power and prominence on the global stage by stealing American intellectual property and deliberately undervaluing the yuan so that their exports remain strong.

Nobody likes a fucking munchkin.

I think we should place troops and nuclear arms in Taiwan by stealth and then throw down the gauntlet and recognise their independence. If the rest of the world bows to Red China in the crisis afterwards, we invite the Legislative Yuan to petition for Statehood as the 51st State of Formosa.

Maybe they should try killing another hundred million people. I'm sure it would work this time.

Maybe the leftists in your country, but in ours, there's a not insignificant minority of leftists who support China; whether it's because they and/or businesses they've invested in/own have invested large amounts of money into the country, or because they suffer from TDS, and would damn near suffocate themselves if Trump came out in favor of breathing air. Not to mention the spoiled brats who think both they and China are communistic; because having your parents buy you everything is totally what Communism is like, right?

Posts about how much The Sietch loves its communist posters and reactions thereafter moved to appropriate threads whining about other forums and the Pinochet thread respectively. Stay on topic.
Thanks man.

The OOT discussion is a bit too rich for me.

I have no idea how discussing Hong Kong turned into problem with other sites. =__=a

Mostly because the Personal is Political these days, don't worry about it. Incidentally, I see the only solution that Hong Kong has to save itself as being the engineering of a mass people-power movement in the PRC to bring down the Communist Party. Do you concur?

That will get the PRC to attack or bring up threats

Because simply put, it maybe impractical, but men who live by and for power can’t/won’t allow challenges to their rule

Oh, I know it will, but when you're facing evil and you're massively outnumbered, you have little choice but to fight. Also, there's a beautiful story from Chinese history about this. The Nationalists extensively use it, it's carved into the rocks in calligraphy on Quemoy and Matsu. "Wu wang tsai Ju" (毋忘在莒), that is to say, "Do not forget that you are in Ju." It alludes to an incident in 284 BCE when the State of Yan had completely overthrown the State of Qi, and left them with only their capital city, conquering the whole rest of their territory, and putting Ju to siege. General Tian Dan (田單) counterattacked by strategem and by sowing fear and confusion in the ranks of Yan, put their much superior armies to rout and decisively regained the whole State of Qi from that single city. As is customary in Classical Chinese allusions, it is sage advice for both the Nationalists and now also for Hong Kong: Even a single redoubt can reconquer an entire nation with forces well-placed and well-used. A massive propaganda and disruption campaign to organize opposition to the PRC is the only chance that Hong Kong has for long term survival; the odds are not good, but they are better than zero.

Propoganda? Doubt they need much, bet most already dislike the very different from them Mainlanders and their government

Doubt the mainland chinese themselves truly like their government so much either

The Mainland has been executing a certain pattern of totalitarian thought control to eliminate dissent to the rule of the PRC. Systematically disrupting that is absolutely critical to the success of any kind of effort to organize mass protests against the Communist Party. That means, essentially, counter-propaganda to destroy the Communist Party's narrative.
