In the year of 2020 band Hammerfal produces an album in record time and embarks on a very successful European tour. On the album the singer Oscar Cairns declares himself the prophet of the metal age and the band members to be his apostles, preaching a metal crusade to deliver the world of rot that crept into all pores of the society. The new religion is based on the lyrics of the previous albums, with the latest being the key to full understanding of its tenets. The world in general considers this to be a gimmicky concept album, but many metalheads, even those who weren't their fans before, take it seriously, taking upon themselves to prepare themselves for the coming conflict, traveling at pre-arranged signal to Scandinavia to become Templars of Steel and take part in the Metal Crusade.
When the time comes the Templar uprisings sweep Scandinavia with the help of sympathizers in the armed forces and police, those deemed tainted with moral rot are given choice of GTFO, repenting their ways or death by trial of combat. The purged bureaucracies are reorganized to better serve their countries and support the Crusade. The armies of the Scandinavian nations are reorganized into Grand Host Of The Crusade, split into brigade size Metal Legions, which based on situation can be combined into minor Hostst (2-5 Legions). All combat roles are taken by Templars and Novices, with nonbelievers taking non-combat roles.
The Crusade is not meant to spread the religion, merely to cut the rot out of the society, the task of Iron Inquisitors. Nations that will take upon themselves the task to stop the rot within their borders will not be subjected to the crusade. The main goal of the Crusade is to prepare humanity for the conflict that he has foreseen.
Templars of Steel use normal military weapons and equipment, train in usual military tactics, but every one of them is also trained in use of one cold steel weapon. However while modern military tactics emphasize standoff destruction of enemy and avoidance of CQB, Templar tactics emphasize agressive use of supporting fire to disrupt the enemy and closing into close combat to break the opposing force.
So after disrupting the EU with reverse refugee flow, the Prophet sends the reorganized Legions into Germany kicking off the fight.
But not all is like it seems, the real power behind the Prophet is his Apostle Dronjak, who is the one who in another reality would be known as the Emperor and he knows that Crusade is the only chance for humanity, for something wicked this way comes.
