I am a security guard in a
science facility called
Black Mesa. I am trying to
escape and survive.
Horrifying aliens are
appearing everywhere, the
government has arrived, but
both are trying to kill the
staff of the facility. I'm
waking up next to a
scientist. He's dead. The
other is badly injured. I
don't know how he got
here." "What happened?" you
ask. "How did you get here?
What do we do now?"
You look around at the
corpses of your fellow
guardsmen and see that they
have all been killed by
some sort of alien
creature.
"We need to find our way
out of this place," you
say.
The man looks at you with
concern. "Where are we
supposed to go?" he asks.
"There isn't any door or
window on the outside of
the building."
"Do you want to die down here?" I said.
"No! We can walk out!" the
man says.
"Then let us go!" you
reply. "It'll be safer than
walking through those
windows."
"But where will we go?" the
man continues to argue.
"There's a lot of ways to get out of the facility and… there's only the two of us, will you help me?" I said.
"Okay, okay, I'll help you
out. But what about the
rest of my team?"
"They're dead too," you
say. "That scientist was
killed as well."
The man nods. "So...what
happens now?"
"We need to survive, the government won't be coming for us and these creatures are killing everybody."
"Yeah, yeah, I get it,"
the man replies. "Let's
just get the hell out of
here."
You nod and follow him out
of the room. As you make
your way through corridors,
you hear loud noises from
above.
I say quietly "I hope it's nothing."
As you reach an elevator,
the doors open and the man
steps inside. You follow
him into the elevator which
quickly ascends upwards.
You enter the elevator and
the man press the button for floor
9.
I say to him "Floor 9?"
"Yes, Floor 9," the man
replies.
You turn around and exit
the elevator. You stand in
front of a large metal door
with a number '9' stamped
onto it. You look at the
man who stands behind you
holding his hand up.
You look over at the door
and see a figure standing
there. It's not human, it's
inhuman. Its face is
twisted, its eyes are
bloodshot and it has two
large fangs protruding from
its mouth.
"Oh shit!"
You grab your pistol and fire at the thing. It doesn't even slow down, it simply moves faster than bullets could possibly travel. The bullet hits the thing in the head causing it to fall backwards off of the wall and hitting its back against it.
"What is that thing?"
The creature gets off the deceased corpse.
"I don't know!" the man
replies. "It looked like
some sort of monster or
something."
You look at the creature
and then back at the man.
You realize that if you
kill this thing, you might
actually have to kill him
as well.
"When I shot this…thing on the head, it fell down, I think thats the weakness."
"Well, alright then," the
man replies.
You pull your pistol and
aim at the creature's head.
You fire several times but
it seems to move so fast
that you never seem to hit
anything in particular. You
continue firing until you
run out of bullets.
You find a crowbar and pick
up one end of it. You swing
the crowbar at the
creature's head and manage
to break a few bones in its
neck. The thing falls
backwards off of the wall
and lands heavily on its
back.
"Let's get out of here Doc.."
The man nods and says "Yeah
let's get out of here
doc.." He walks away from
the room while you sit down
on a nearby chair.
You feel sick…
You stand up an began walking towards the man who is still sitting down.
You put your hand on his
shoulder and shake
it.
"Hey, hey! What the hell
were you doing? We're
supposed to be safe here!"
he yells at you.
"What do you think? This place is on lockdown!"
He looks at you with
disbelief in his
eyes.
"What!? That's not
possible! This place was
just locked down because
there was an intruder in
the house!" he exclaims.
"what do you mean a house?!? We're in black Mesa facility get a hold of yourself!"
He starts laughing
nervously.
"Oh come on! You can see
that I'm joking right?" he
asks.
"No, no, I'm serious! Black
Mesa has been having
problems lately and they
need our help to fix them."
He shakes his head and
sighs.
"I guess we should go now
huh? I mean what are you
going to do?" he
asks.
"We'll figure something
out, I promise." you reply.
You nod and walk towards
the door. As soon as you
open it, the man grabs your
arm and pulls you
outside.
As you look around, you
notice that there isn't
much to see except for a
large metal gate with a big
sign above it.
"Hey Doc, what's behind that big door?"
Doc looks at you
confused.
"It's a long story, but I
know that if you try to go
through it, you won't make
it out alive." he
replies.
You nod and turn around to
leave. The man follows
after you.
"Then why did you bring us to floor 9?"
Doc looks at you again and
then turns around to face
the other way.
"Because it's where all the
important stuff is." he
answers.
You shrug and continue
walking. The man stops
following you when he sees
another group of people
coming down a hallway.
I say to the Doc quietly "let's hide Doc, I do not know who they are, but if they are employees of this dump place then we are safe, if not.. and those are the soldiers that keeps killing everybody then we are dead."
The man nods and begins to
follow you. You hear
shouting from inside the
room and realize that they
must be the guards. They
don't seem like friendly
ones either.
You quickly run into one of
the rooms and hide behind a
corner, while the man hides
in another one.
A few moments later, you
hear the sounds of yelling
and gunfire. It seems like
they are fighting over
control of the
facility.
"Whoa! Whoah! Hold on! Hold
on! Let's calm down a bit!"
you call out to them.
I say to them "do you know guys that this facility is going to shit! If you guys don't find a way out of here!"
They both stop talking and
stare at you.
"What?!" one of them shouts
back.
"That's what!" the other
responds. "If we don't find
a way out of here, then
we're going to die!"
"yeah! There are creatures and soldiers trying to kill everybody in this facility!" I said.
Both of them start to laugh
nervously.
"Well, I think we both know
that's not true!" And they keep continuing "There are no monsters or soldiers trying to kill anybody in this facility! We just need to escape together!"
I said to them angrily this time "you ignorant fuckers! Do you not know that on the top floor everyone got bullet holes in their bodies and the down floor got everybody bitten of by those creatures!"
"Oh my god! What the hell
do you want?! Are you
trying to get us killed
too?!" one of them yells.
I say to them "NO! I AM TRYING TO SAVE LIVES! DAMN IT! Doc, let's get out of here. I have no other choice."
You grab your gun
and shoot him in the head
before running out of the
room.
You run along some
corridors until you reach a
metal door which has an
arrow pointing to it. You
press down on it and it
opens up revealing a small
elevator.
I say out loud "doc where are you?"
He appears to be busy with
something in his temporarily lab
area.
"I'm right here doc!" you
reply.
You enter the elevator and
ride it down, as soon as
you open your eyes, you
feel like everything is
spinning and falling apart.
You suddenly feel dizzy and
fall back against the
wall.
"W-what happened? Why am I
falling?" you
ask.
Suddenly, you see a bright
light in front of you. You
look around and notice that
you are lying on a bed
covered with white sheets.
I say weakly "why am I here? Where's Doc?"
You slowly turn your head
and see a man standing over
you. He looks very old, but
still very fit
looking.
"How did you get here?" you
ask.
"Doc was kidnapped by the
military and taken to a
secret base in the
mountains." he replies.
I say to him "what? no! I need to save him!"
"The military took Doc away
from the city. They were
planning to use him for
experiments."
"But why me.. is there somebody else?"
"No, because you're the
only person who can perform
the experiment that will
help us."
I say to him "if it means saving Doc, then I do it!"
"Very well, if you
insist."
You stand up and walk
towards him. As you
approach, he puts his hand
on your shoulder and says
"Don't worry about me. Just
focus on getting through
this ordeal."
You nod and begin walking
towards him. The two of you
make eye contact and he
smiles at you.
I muttered "Doc please be safe until I get there.."
You quickly turn around and
grab his arm. He grabs
yours and pulls you
close.
"Now don't move or anything
bad might happen...okay?"
he says with a smile.
"As you wish."
You continue to hold onto
each other as you walk
through the halls.
Eventually, you come across
a large metal door with an
arrow pointing to it. You
push the button and it
slides open revealing a
long hallway.
"What is this place?"
You and the man both look at each other and he nodded.
"This is where we'll be
going when we reach our
destination."
"Where is that
destination?" you
ask.
"It's not important right
now, just know that it's
somewhere out in the
wilderness."
"Alright."
You both start walking down
the hallways. Suddenly, you
hear a loud noise coming
from behind one of the
buildings. It sounds like
something exploded inside
it.
You both look back and
forth between each other
before asking "What's going
on?"
He answers "There are
several tanks full of gas.
We don't have much time
left."
Suddenly, you feel a sharp
pain go through your chest.

You both fall down and you
scream in agony. You see
Doc lying next to you, but
he doesn't seem to notice
what happened. He starts
laughing and continues
talking to you.
"DOC?!?"
You both try to speak, but
you can't find any words.
Your body feels numb and
cold. You feel like you're
dying.
You look over at Doc who
hasn't noticed anything
wrong.
"No! No! Please, help me!"
you cry out.
Doc looks over at you and
laughs again. He then goes
back to talking to you.
"What's happening?"
You both stare at each
other and sigh.
"I'm sorry for being so
selfish..."
You both shake your head
and sigh. Then, you begin
to laugh again.
You both look at each other
and shrug.
"The man said you were
abducted by the military.
How are you here?"
You look over at Doc
who nods his head in
agreement. You both smile
and continue laughing.
"At least you're safe doc…"
You both turn around and
walk away. You keep walking
until you get far enough
away that you can't even
hear the wind blowing in
the trees anymore. You stop
and sit down on a nearby
rock. A few minutes pass as
you think about all that
has happened today.
I say to myself "wait.. is this a dream?"
You slowly open your eyes
and look around. You see
nothing amiss, though you
still feel very sleepy. You
stand up and walk over to
the rocks where you sat
down earlier. As soon as
you do, you suddenly
realize that there is
someone standing right
beside you with a rifle in
hand.
You quickly turn around and
run off into the forest.
You quickly make it out of
the woods and start running
when you hear a voice
behind you.
"Who are you? Who are YOU?"
I say to him "YOU'RE NOT REAL! THIS HAS TO BE A DREAM! I NEED TO FIND DOC!"
You turn around and run
faster than you've ever ran
before. You don't know why,
but something inside of you
just tells you to go after
Doc.
You run through the woods
and eventually come across
a large group of soldiers.
They have guns pointed at
you from every direction.
You raise your hands up and
hold them out in front of
you. One soldier walks
towards you and puts his
gun against your
chest.
"What the hell are you
doing?! We don't need to
shoot you, we'll take care
of this ourselves."
You point your finger at
the soldier and yell
"Where's Doc?!"
The soldier starts to sweat
nervously. He turns around
and points his gun at you
while he speaks to
you.
"We don't know where Doc
is, what you're doing is
illegal.
You point your finger back
at the soldier and shout
"Black Mesa Facility!"
The soldier looks at you in
confusion and then backs
away slowly. He doesn't
seem to understand anything
you're saying. You try to
explain again, but he just
keeps repeating himself.
You point your finger at
the sky and ask "What year
is it and where the hell am
I?"
The soldier seems to be
getting more confused by
the second. He turns around
and runs back towards his
group.
"Now it's not the time, I need to find Doc."
You continue to follow the
soldier, who continues to
ignore you. Eventually you
reach a small clearing with
several buildings in it.
The man approaches one of
the buildings and opens the
door. Inside is a long
metal table covered with
computers, which are
connected together in
various ways.
You walk closer to the
computer room and look
around. There are many
different types of machines
here, some working, others
not working at all. Some of
these devices seem to be
controlling other
things...things that aren't
even alive.
Some of these devices seem

I say to the soldier "I am sorry about that earlier man.. but can you tell me please where we are right now?"
You stop walking and stand
there looking around. You
see no signs of life
anywhere else in the
area.
A few minutes pass and you
begin to get hungry so you
head over to a nearby food
dispenser.
You eat some food and start
thinking about how you got
here. You remember seeing a
bright light when you were
falling from the sky. It
was like a flash of
lightning, but much
brighter. Then suddenly
everything went black…
