Doesn't anyone find it a little eerie how closely this Klaus Schwab/WEF/Great Reset business matches those posts I always used to make on SpaceBattles?

I always used to make threads about a hypothetical future society where automation replaced human labor, the price system was abolished, people rented things rather than owning them, public transport replaced private transportation, cities were converted into autarkic green arcologies, and transhuman technologies were adopted with gusto. A decade back, I foresaw computers and the internet destroying (and not replacing) a lot of jobs. Think of the difference in the number of people employed in traditional book publishing versus self-publishing online. I tried explaining to people that if they wanted to save the environment, we had to do as Kate Raworth said, and implement a circular economy, with things reused and up-cycled rather than being thrown away, and that it may even be necessary to pursue degrowth to try and manage the environmental impact of our global industry.

Nobody liked these ideas. In fact, the majority of SpaceBattlers accused me of being insane, an asshole, and an insane asshole.

And yet, this is exactly what Klaus Schwab is trying to do:

Apparently, Biden is in on it, too.

What in the hell are they planning?

Historical precedent shows that technology will only replace labor when labor prices are high.

They probably prefer cheap labor to machinery

Plus, what are all those migrants gonna do when they choose to use robots instead? Unionize? Not when they're being given welfare checks

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.

How about a lifetime of financial support in exchange for sterility?

The point of the migrants is that they don't need to spend the expense of modernization.
People who are scared of automation are missing the same thing that Marx did: Industrial equipment is a huge amount of capital. Automation is incredibly expensive, it also makes your factory very specialized.
