Great Martian War 1913-1917

So I recently saw the Great Martian war mockumentary here for those who don't know.



After seeing that it got me to thinking a timeline or better yet an alt history story that fills in the blanks like the eastern front and all that needs to be done on this but its something of a titanic effort for just one person. But suddenly I got some inspiration from the alt history Red Dawn TL where everyone would just write snippets of pov characters.

Was it over that mockumentary and how it played out? Because in that one the Martians hit Germany right before WW1 kicked off, Essentially the Germans and Kaiser Wilhelm are viewed as the saviors of France and Europe.

Oh the thread was analyzing the actual conflict details taken from the HG Wells book itself.

I liked that version because its basically WW1 but with Martians taking the place of the central powers, Part of the reason they don't outright blitz and take over totally is they came to harvest in limited numbers. Also best part is Wilson gets booted out of office and Theodore Roosevelt becomes president again.

Spiciest part is that the Schlieffen plan is remembered as some sort of military masterpiece in this timeline.

And it is. Hilariously, it's put to the exact opposite of is original purpose, but Alfred von Schlieffen's insistence on "the strong right wing" is honoured beyond his wildest hopes. It's all right wing, because it's no longer a pincer movement, and it consists of every single able-bodied German that Hindenburg could find.

To save France ironically, Well I suppose the post war Germany would still be an empire ruled by the Hohenzollerns and hailed the heroes of Europe. Something like WW2 is unlikely to ever happen here since aliens invaded.

There is one problem - martians in book killed all humans on occupied territories,so there would be no germans,poles,czech,and few other nations left.

Basing this off of that Mockumentaries timeline instead of the book, Any story off this will involve most German civilians that can't fight fleeing into France and Russia some die but the majority manage to get out. I suppose the same would have to be said for Austria the Balkans ect. But yeah I'm entertaining the idea of starting a prologue chapter here in a bit.

I think the death toll would be like WW1 and WW2 combined, But since like since its an alien invasion and clearly a war of extermination no one entertains the idea of surrender and that is probably the only thing preventing societal collapse.

Bigger.You could not easily run from giant tripods,which have deaths rays.I think,that most populations of overrun countries would die.

These versions aren't as deadly as the movie versions, The heat rays are slow firing anyways just watch the documentary so you get a feel of whats going on. Its not quite book version but still powerful enough to be a problem.

Indeed,but do not change fact,that martians would kill at least 50% of populations in taken areas.Which mean,that Germany as state would cease to exist.
