How do things go from here?

Denethor isn't going to yield Gondor to Aragorn. The Easterlings and Haradim are still Intact as is Sauraman and the Dunlendings. The Balrog is still around. So how does this go down....

Movieverse Aragorn is unlikely to become king. The movies depict Aragorn not as a confidant leader who has already been leading the fight against Sauron long before the story began and is ready to assume his destiny as king, but as a lone swordsman who has been wandering around doing nothing, and doesn't want to become king. He will likely be irrelevant in this timeline.

The movies depict Denethor as cartoonishly evil and stupid. The movies also do not depict Gondor's and Rohan's relationship, so it is unlikely Gondor will turn their attention towards defeating Saruman. His sons might be able to round up some men and assist Rohan in fighting against Saruman. Hopefully one of them succeeds dad before he thinks of fighting Rohan...

The remaining elves will no longer be tied up by the forces of Sauron. After mopping up, they could come down to help defeat Saruman, if he hasn't already been defeated.

The Haradrim and the Easterlings won't be a problem, as they will be too busy trying to secure their home territories.

Biggest change is that without Aragorn, there is no reunited kingdom. Also, the Dead Men of Dunharrow are never released from their purgatory.

1.Not Possible - it is Tolkien story, and Ring could be destroyed only in Mordor.
2.If it was possible - Tolkien created LOTR as myth for England, and as past of our world.Gondor fall to Sauron worshippers after Aragorn death,it would happen again.Only difference - Barlog and Dead Men would be still there.
Maybe Saruman ,too.

It's a movie adaption in the OP so maybe the creative team wanted to show us not a rich fantasy story with complex good and evil moralistic themes faithful to some anachronistic White Christian Supremacist literature but nine hours of political intrigue predating Game of Thrones by a decade by SUBVERTING your fandom expectations in the very first movie!

I predict the axe Gimli used to destroy said ring will be retconned into being forged by the Black Dwarf Queen Lady from the prequel TV Series.

The Ring cannot be destroyed with a mere axe. Nevertheless, it was. The logical conclusion, it wasn't the genuine article. Bilbo passed off a mundane yet cosmetically similar piece of jewelry from his share of Smaug's hoard to Gandalf and ran off with the actual Ring. Checking in with Rivendell confirms he never arrived and his current whereabouts and agenda are unknown.
