Giant Robots and Big Honkin' Space Guns(Stargate SG-1/Battletech)

I've always been more in favor of the Jack & Samantha angle. Jack needs to get some sort of rejuvenation treatment...accidentally of course. Then he can really show his stuff. Maybe a side effect of the fast-aging nanites once they were 'stopped'. Maybe they'll keep him fit and trim instead?

One thing that I see as a big hinderance to the F-302 was the use of chemical fuel for propulsion and power. When its clear building a small Naquada power source would have worked way better and limited the limitations the 302 had. SGC would later replace the Air breathing Jets and Areospikes with an ion engine. But if you could make the 302 Nuclear and make the ion engines run off that, you give that thing a huge boost in performance. Not to mention endurance and combat capability.

In this case, the manufacturing cores contain plans for things like the Centurion ASF. Which would honestly be fantastic as a replacement for the F302 if given intertia dampening.

Or just build a modified 302 with some Btech technology in it. Which I think is the better course of action. I also am kinda biased towards the 302 as I do love the fighter.

Part of the problem is, the only 302s they'd have right now are the Death Glider ones that they started out with. And I haven't decided what direction to go in with regards to the full tech merge at the moment.

I doubt they'd actually modify them with tech. One of the goals of that program was to create a fighter that could be natively produced.

How long before some bright bulb in the government thinks "why don't we just take all of his tech?" and then proceeds to have a PPC inserted rectally?

Oh, I'm sure that we'll see the idiots at the N.I.D. try something. It's a hot bet whether or not Mark stomps them, the wolves eat them, or SG1 does something sneaky to remove them.

Honestly, I don't expect that'll be the case at all. Not in any realistic scenario at any rate. The man is sharing technology and knowledge with them and they need his cooperation to continue that. Forcing him ends that cooperation. I mean for God's sakes he's giving them weapons and access to engineering information to build fusion reactors. He's even giving them access to study his ships and Mechs.

All he asks for is very little. To put pressure on the man is stupidity of the highest order. Not that such stupidity doesn't exist in Washington. It very much does. But Stargate shows that cooler and smarter heads more often than not prevails. Here the SGC is doing its job so it doesn't need NID interference.

Fair points.

In this case, it's not the NID that will be the problem. Maybourne isn't an idiot after all. It's a certain person who always thinks he's smarter who would be the problem...

Kinsey might try something.

I disagree. I mean, I know we love to dunk on the guy and with good reason and much enthusiasm. But he only became a thorn in the side of the SGC because they failed to produce results with a clear threat hanging over Earths head. At best, in the first few seasons the SGC only managed to get table scraps of technology. If that. So Kinsey took measures into his own hands. Obviously this failed and failed hard. But here? It's really not needed. Hell, I can see Kinsey freaking out the SGC by giving them an 'atta boy' and pat on the back (metaphorically) Which would quickly be followed by a 'Do better' (the other shoe dropping) when it comes to securing technology that could challenge the Goa'ulds dominance in space.

One of my favourite fic versions of Kinsey says the following "I'm ruthless, not stupid." When trying to get stock/shares from a company he was working with to get defences for Earth, which is true. I just like seeing him get dunked on as you say, but then again given how I'm about to use him in something I guess I'm a little unfair. (Besides Ronny Cox is just a boss when it comes to awesome characters)
