"Get Back to Work": The state of Labor

It’s not just a stereotype: Gen Z really does ‘have a work ethic problem’

TL;DR: Gen Zers are questioning the point of working, and even doing things such as college.

While I do agree that Gen Z does have a work ethic problem I laugh at the baby boomers whom act as though back in thier day they walked to and from work up hill in ten feet of snow when many did in fact not. It also should be noted they are the ones who have ruiend the concept of the trade, he did not save and left future generations with nothing, and are the one who created and are advocating for "The Great Reset."

"You will own nothing and be happy...now get back to work!"

many young Americans are in a middle ground where they do not see any incentive in working for things that they see as not meant for them or attainable to them...but at the same time have basic needs met and are thus not hungry and don't need to work to eat (while they are young, anyways). a middle ground where the majority of American youth - particularly young males - are socially humiliated on a daily basis...but still for the most part have food to eat and a place to stay. at least while they are young.

but in any case, the solution to making the lives of young Zoomer and gen Alpha people better, is to not be isolated and go it alone. rents soaring through the roof? - and don't just blame the landlords on that one; landlords are just a relatively low rung in the hierarchy of why prices for everything are going through the roof - make social connections and live with roomates. even one roomate can cut the price of everything in half. live with two or three roomates and even people working part time jobs can afford rent and live a decent life eating decent food - learn how to shop at a grocery store and for sales instead of blowing money on doordash zoomers.

that is the key: network; socialize and work together. do not isolate yourself it makes everything unnecessarily difficult

We litterallly spent decades destroying huge amounts of soical networks in the name of 'liberation'

this has led to very bad things.

Her look at the most recent survey shows that work ethic among 18-year-olds took a nosedive in 2021 and 2022, with the proportion of respondents saying they wanted to do their best in their job "even if this sometimes means working overtime" dropping to just 36% last year, from 53.74% in 2020.
A lack of willingness to work OT being conflated with less of a work ethic is certainly a take that you can make.
