I finished the Warfare recently and I'm now taking a bit of a break for TOAW IV and writing, before starting Syrian Warfare.
I like the fact that armor vehicles have armor facing and component distribution, it means that tanks have weaker rear side and first penetration will take out engine. Reapairs are unrealistic but fit well into game mechanics, so your vehicle crews can take over and repair any knocked out enemy vehicle that is not completely destroyed, but you can only repair components (engine, gun...) and not the armor, thus in combat you have to position your vehicles carefully, so the side with freshest armour is facing the enemy. You also have to take care of your ammo and fuel supply, unlike the enemies who have unlimited ammo, which gets especially annoying with their artillery and atgm teams
.
Units gain experience so it pays off to take good care of them. There is lot of attention to small details, I loved to watch infantry climb over the fences, or look through blasted walls of the building to see them them finish off the last defenders inside and take the defensive positions.
I get the impression though that the developers were making different game at first but changed the story in the middle, then decided to shoehorn all the developed assets in the changed game. They could have made much better story with some changes.
Also there is lot of save and reload especially when you have to do atgm baiting and artillery dodging.
In the end, for me the good parts outweighted the bad parts. I would love to see the final statistic and all the diaries at the end, instead of just main menu after the credits.
