My favorite memes are the ones where it's not immediately obvious if it's one of ours or one of theirs:

The reason the Left cannot meme is because memes operate on the Based-Cringe spectrum. In real world events, the right generally engages in behavior on the based end of the spectrum. A dumpy Boomer defending his home with an AR-15... is still a man defending his home with an AR-15, which is based. The only cringe aspect is the dumpy Boomer himself and his physique (compare him to the average 60 year old leftist however...) so that's the only thing that can really be parodied because based is based is based, and that basedness will show through no matter what.

In contrast, the left operates largely in the cringe area of the spectrum. A man in a dress claiming to be a woman is very easy to parody and mock whole-cloth because the most salient characteristic of the situation and the character in it is cringe. Soy-powered bugmen obsessed with toys and popular media? Inherently cringe and easily parodied. Hats with cat ears called "pussy hats?" Cringe. Having to wear a mask on a Zoom call alone in your own home? Cringe all the way.

Other failed and co-opted leftist memes prove this as well. Giant Trump God-Emperor cyborg statue? The parody is lost because giant Warhammer 40k statues are incredibly based. That lib comic that had a jacked Trump supporter wearing a shirt that said "Testosterone" on it? Too based to parody. It's like the opposite of that smarmy quip about "reality having a liberal bias." It's really more like "liberals have a cringe bias," and trying to make themselves look funny or cool instead of nagging and petulant is nigh-impossible.

Also because the best memes transcend political alignment. Look at Stonetoss's comics. Love him or hate him, a lot of his comics are memes that are easily understood by even normies. Not that there aren't those incredibly esoteric ones here and there but if you look at them, there's a real good chance you'll immediately get what he's trying to convey.

Case in point:

With lefty memes, they're so heavily weighed down with text because normies wouldn't "get it". They need to convey so much context that narrows down their views so much that they simply don't work as memes and instead become dissertations as to why they're good bois and deserve all the crumbs that the females around them can spare.

The left has always been authoritarian; it's just that since the end of the Bush presidency, they've come to hold a lot more actual authority.

What makes leftists so frightening to me is how completely unfunny and humorless they are. The last left-wing comedian who put a genuine smile on my face was probably Sasha Baron-Cohen, fifteen years ago. What strikes me about Colbert, Trevor Noah, et al is just how goddamn serious they are.
