The giveaway will be conducted by the General Services Administration, the most generic of all generic government bureaucracies. If any of the six lighthouses are not snatched up for free, they will then be put up for public auction. Two of the lighthouses are located in Massachusetts, with others located in Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut and Pennsylvania and range in height from thirty four feet to fifty one feet.

Unneeded lighthouses are being given away free along the East Coast. Those that don't get picked up will head to public auction.
