Fox pays Dominion $787m, essentially admits fault; Smartmatic next?

I haven't seen a thread yet. If I missed it, please forgive me and point me.

As everyone likely knows, Dominion Voting Systems had been suing Fox News for defamation to the tune of $1.6 BILLION dollars. On Tuesday, Fox agreed to pay about half that rather than proceed to the trial that was by then mere hours away. Fox, in its statement, "acknowledge[d] the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false."

Naturally, this has me wondering about the future prospects of Smartmatic's own defamation suit against Fox, which is even larger at $2.7 billion. Do you think they'll settle for a similar percentage? (which would be over $1.3b) more? less? or will it go to trial?

Trial would arguably be the worst outcome for Fox, under the premise that they paid a premium to avoid letting the trial air even more dirty laundry.

But Fox wasn't the only one Dominion was suing. Many other cases are still moving forward. Also good targets for speculation. I think we can all agree it's unlikely that Dominion can actually squeeze more than half a billion dollars out of Sidney Powell. Will they push all the way to trial, or extract some non-monetary concessions to settle?

The outcome of the other cases might be indicative of whether Fox settled because they reported on something they didn't believe in or not and would've lost the case based on that lack of actual belief in what they were reporting.

AFAIK Mike Lindell and Sidney Powell etc actually believe those companies engaged in election fraud.

Please leave OANN alone. They have the best hard news coverage on American television, not the least bit sarcastic either. It's like the only news (not commentary/analysis) programming I watch (or would if I had Cable).

They should have fought it out

As far as I recall, almost everyone on the Fox News network besides Tucker have done everything they could to discredit the idea that the 2020 election was fraudulent in any way (which it was); so that probably undermined any case they could make.

Well... Also Dobbs, Bartiromo and Pirro certainly support the idea of fraudulent election, as far as their reporting goes.

"Sidney, we talked about the Dominion software. I know that there were voting irregularities. Tell me about that," Bartiromo said.

"Read all about Dominion and Smartmatic voting companies and you'll soon understand how pervasive this Democrat electoral fraud is, and why there's no way in the world the 2020 Presidential election was either free or fair. #MAGA @realDonaldTrump #AmericaFirst #Dobbs," Dobbs wrote.

"It was created for the express purpose of being able to alter votes and secure the reelection of Hugo Chavez and then Maduro. They've used it in Argentina," Powell said. "There is an American citizen who has exported it to other countries and it is one huge, huge criminal conspiracy that should be investigated by military intelligence for its national security implications."

"Yes. And hopefully the Department of Justice, but who knows anymore," Pirro said.

"Sidney Powell is also talking about potential kickbacks that government officials, who were asked to use Dominion, actually also enjoyed benefits to their families," Bartiromo said. "We're going to talk about that coming up as well."

"But I mean just the mere fact that we have a foreign country, we had this in a foreign country, done by friends of an enemy of the United States, Maduro, is outrageous and has to stop immediately," Giuliani said.

"It's outrageous," Dobbs said.

"I think many Americans have given no thought to electoral fraud that would be perpetrated through electronic voting; that is, these machines, these electronic voting companies, including Dominion, prominently Dominion, at least in the suspicions of a lot of Americans," Dobbs said.

"The 2020 Election is a cyber Pearl Harbor," Dobbs wrote.

"Let me make you an offer, very straightforwardly," Dobbs said. "We will gladly put forward your evidence that supports your claim that this was a Cyber Pearl Harbor. We have tremendous evidence already ... of fraud in this election, but I will be glad to put forward on this broadcast whatever evidence you have, and we'll be glad to do it immediately."

"Cyber Pearl Harbor: @SidneyPowell1 reveals groundbreaking new evidence indicating our Presidential election came under massive cyber-attack orchestrated with the help of Dominion, Smartmatic, and foreign adversaries. #MAGA #AmericaFirst #Dobbs," Dobbs wrote.
In fact, there's plenty more. To the point that "The election was stolen." was basically the general position of fox. Which is why they were sued for it, and forced to settle.
