Former Playmate Holly Madison Recalls Hugh Hefner’s Furious Reaction to Her Haircut: ‘He Was Screaming At Me’

I got to a point where I kind of broke under that pressure and being made to feel like I needed to look exactly like everybody else,” Madison explained. She described having naturally long hair but wanting to set herself apart from the other blonde, big-chested women who also frequented the Playboy Mansion. So she boldly chopped her hair to her shoulders.
“I came back with short hair and [Hefner] flipped out on me,” the former Playmate revealed. “He was screaming at me and said it made me look old, hard and cheap.”

I always thought the “He’s a big feminist” thing was nonsensical. This is just more proof. The man used his power to sleep with a bunch of woman and control them. He would constantly do stuff like this.

Now to be fair, I once broke it off with a woman because she cut her hair so short it looked like a man’s cut and when I was asked my opinion. I stated I didn’t like it. So she went on this whole rant about how I was a sexist. There was a host of other issues but that straw broke the camel. So I dumped her.

So this isn’t coming from a guy who doesn’t think a partner can’t say they don’t like a look or even have to put up with it. But Hugh was a controlling.

Not shocked by this development.

'Old Man started yelling when his barbie dolls looked different than expected.'

That being said, I thought it was common knowledge the man was a controlling creep.

Shock and surprise!
...
Not really.

Hefner's basically a prime example of shitloads of money and influence--including making the right noises about the right issues--winning you a pass from any kind of cancellation or criticism for bad behavior. Him being dead is basically the only reason this is probably showing up. People will speak ill of you (deservingly, it would very much seem based on this and prior stories of Hefner being...exactly the kind of guy you'd expect) when you can no longer slap money in hand to silence criticism or complaint.

Also, 'shoulder-length' hair is hardly 'short'. Like...shorter, I guess. But when I think short-haired women I usually imagine the buzz-cut or shaved bald type of thing.

I'm going to take the opasit track, from the crowd, I'm noticing that people are only attacking him now that he's dead and cant defend himself or speak in his own defense. And tell all books long after some one dead that pays money.

I think there is a good chance that this is either greatly exagerated or pure lies.

It could be that, it could also be that when Hefner was alive he might have been able to use wealth and power to threaten his critics.

Really though, I don’t have any sympathy for this girl. It’s not like she was involved with Hugh Hefner because she wanted to find her true love. She chose to be a powerful man’s concubine, she needs to take the bad with the good. Of course Hef gets mad when she changes her looks without permission, looks are what she’s there for, I’m sure she would express some displeasure if Hef suddenly got poor while they were involved.

That puts it painfully well. Any woman who went to work for Playboy after it was an established brand knew very well what they were doing.

It's sad, but they walked into it of their own volition.

Yeah, shoulder length is quite long in these challenging times :)

BTW - I used to have shoulder length hair. Looking back - I was sooo dumb! What faff! Brushing it! Drying it! Dandruff! Split ends! Once I went buzzcut I never looked back and haven't used a comb in ... 25? 28? years.

In my country buzzcuts/very short hair for women has become borderline mainstream, as one of the acceptable looks. I'm cool with it - female autonomy for teh win! - and I think it looks 2cute!!!11 :)
Then again, in Poland skinheadism for men regardless of age and station IS mainstream :p

Yup. One can look at it as breaking the company dress code.

Personally I actually like the short-haired look...
For reasons that mystify me.

I ended up with a buzzcut once when I was a little boy; felt like I was walking around naked.
