News coming out of the Pelican State that former LA Governor Edwin Washington Edwards (D) has placed himself into hospice care at his Gonzales home after going to Saint Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance over the weekend. I should alert to everyone that Edwards has outlived four of his successors: David Treen (R), 1980-1984; Buddy Roemer (D/R), 1988-1992; Mike Foster (R), 1996-2004 & Kathleen Blanco (D), 2004-2008.
Edwards holds the record as the Pelican State's longest-serving LA Governor with 16 years of service & 5,784 days for 4 terms from May 9th, 1972 to March 10th, 1980; March 12th, 1984 to March 14th, 1988 & again from January 13th, 1992 to January 8th, 1996.
*EWE & Bobby Jindal (R), 2008-2016 are currently the only 2 living former LA Governors left.
