Biden: U.S. does not support 'Taiwan independence'

Officially, the US never supported Taiwan independence. There is a video in YouTube(which I can't find right now, since YouTube is blocked at work) that shows exactly what the US position is(and it's a marvel of legal splitting hairs - IIRC, the USA supports negociations to peacefully solve the issue; there's no commitment on part of the US to defend Taiwan independence).

That being said, it'd be entirely plausible Biden would say something that could be interpreted as changing long-standing US policy on that issue - and for a West Taiwanese website to holler that interpretation to the four corners of the world, even if they have to twist facts into a pretzel to do so.

Our military has lowered standards so much that we now have captains crashing their ships every other year and marines who lack the strength to carry a wounded comrade. Our military procurement has focused on profit-taking by building lavishly overpriced versions of the vehicles we used fifty years ago, while Russia and China have focused on procuring weapons specifically designed to defeat ours.

They're communists, and they've gone into the whole 'state capitalism' thing on top of that, making some of the most corrupt businesses in the history of human civilization.

We'd have issues if there was a (conventional) war, but they would have much, much worse issues.

Also, after a certain point, your soldiers start realizing that they have better odds of surviving if they fight against their superiors, than against the soldiers on the other end of the battlefield. If things ever get to that point, you don't just lose the war, you get your government overthrown.

And of course, all of this is besides the fact that China's economy and military can't survive if hostile powers close their access to global shipping.

Long story short, some perennial criminal named Robert David Lloyd Hall, a 36 year old with 23 convictions including seven felonies ranging from state lottery fraud to narcotics charges got into a car accident at an intersection one morning and fled. A 21 year old bystander named Kavanian Parker attempted to prevent him from fleeing the scene so Robert shot and killed him. He then fled to a grocery store parking lot and attempted to carjack a woman who resisted and then several other bystanders intervened and overpowered him and detained him until the police arrived.

Narcotics, a bulletproof vest and another firearm were apparently found in his vehicle.
