Great news. I hope he got close to the $250,000,000 he was asking for. I also hope that this is just the first in a series of legal victories for Sandman. You can’t have a nation where big media corporations can just target innocent citizens and destroy their lives with lies. In this case he was a minor which made it even more odious.

According to a Canadian lawyer, it's probably closer to 5-20 mil.
Bear in mind this dude has been quite neutral, sometimes even sympathetic to Sandman thorough the controversy.
Also keep in mind, if you haven't watched the video, that we don't know how much money he got. He might have felt the pressure and settled for a lesser amount, CNN might have felt the pressure and settled quickly. His lawyer might've insisted on getting some decent quick dosh and so they settled, CNN insurers might've insisted on a settlement before the case progressed much further and incurred further cost. Nick may have been too stressed and mentally exhausted by the ordeal so he settled, CNN might've wished to prevent the case from moving towards the discovery phase at all costs so they settled.
In short, we don't know how much money he got, but I'd say it's a reasonable assumption that, at the very least, the lawsuit had enough merit that CNN wasn't certain enough in their victory if the case went to court properly.

There is also the process of discovery, where Sandman’s lawyer could have gotten access to all of CNN’s dirty secrets that review how intentional and systematic their lies go. Something that they might have been willing to pay a big price to keep secret. If it only cost CNN $20 million, they might consider it worth it to be able to convince the dumbest fourth of American news watchers that Sandman was a racist that was harassing an innocent old Indian man.
