History Did Julius Caesar commit genocide in Gaul?

Now as I understand it, archaeological and genetic evidence does not back up this claim, and we know Caesar was trumping the numbers in his commentaries. But the assertion of genocide floats around the internet quite a bit, so I was wondering if any could expand on it.

Because to me, the Gallic Wars look much more like defiant and rebellious tribes getting the snot beaten out of them, Roman style, than a systematic genocide. Rather savage, but standard fare for an Iron Age conflict.
