Writers Blocked Douchebag
This idea came from this talk me and @LifeisTiresome just had a few minutes ago
One thing I think that can be agreed, is that even before the 2010s, the number of readers of Western Comicbooks were much lower on average compared to Manga, also, I think a good portion of whatever fanbase existed before didn't exactly have a strong cultural identity or resistance to outside and maybe the creators themselves sorta already hated what they were making and who they were saving
How would things have gone in the longterm, before even the creation of the MCU, if the number of buyers was larger and simply put NOT mainly a bunch of middle aged white dudes who are/were longtime fans and into comic book fanservice.....yeah I don't think having a reputation for having the sorta user base both Shounen, Shounen-Ecchi & Ecchi will be so good, but how would things change?
Presumably, most people eventually remember/know there’s more than superhero comics around
Lots of European comicbooks and adaptations of books and mythologies amongst other things like history even
Another thing that aids in anime and manga not sucking is that the Japanese stick to the seemingly obsolete opinion of not insulting your customer and giving your customers what they want.
Its entirely possible that some manga and anime creators do think their fans are trash. But they will never say it which suits everyone just fine.
The more Japan loses its culture and become more western, they will loose the attitude I mentioned and start insulting their fans and become more mature in writing aka throw away fun and everything has to be about agenda and of course being subversive.
