Caesar's Legion (Fallout New Vegas) vs Saderan Empire (GATE)

Caesar after a New Vegas victory (Absorbed Khans, Boomers and replenished their losses with all the slaves from the victory) and with access to the Gun Runners and Van Graffs who supply them with weapons now launch an attack on the Saderan Empire through the same "Gate" that allows travel between the universes.

Caesar is made suddenly immortal to aging thanks to the Courier injecting him with a immortality serum in his sleep which is a parting gift before leaving the Legion.

Caesar wants to conquer the other side. What happens?

Caesar has Howitzers now. The fact that they're probably in the same ballpark of deadliness as a Saderan warrior in melee combat, with comparable equipment and armor as well (this is one of those cases where they're better equipped for melee then modern soldiers would be in a similar matchup) but also flush with guns thanks to their many conquests... and apparent trade agreements with the Gun Runners and Van Graffs, means they could run riot over the Saderans as long as the Gun Runners can keep them supplied with enough ammunition. And if the numbers aren't completely against their favor.

The Battles woudn't quite be as one sided though. The JSDF likely had way more artillery, and rocket launchers, and airpower, mines, barbed wire, trenches, and could throw as many bullets as they wanted downrange in their tens and thousands without needing to worry about running out. So the firepower advantage of the modern army versus Legion is still pretty vast.

The only problem is I doubt anyone in the Legion has the Pornomancer energy that Gate's main character has in creating a harem out of every fantasy character encountered that could be a threat to Japan's imperialist ambitions. Caesar is silver tongued, but he ain't some Cherchez le Femme or whatever. He's like your know it all Uncle. Gross.

Lanius... yeah whatever. He'd have a better chance trying to court Sergeant Kuribayashi.

One might assume Vulpes Inculta seems slender and effeminate enough to be the manboy warrior who can gather a harem but he's not nearly as unsure of himself to fulfill that role, the smug motherfucker.

Lucius is gay. Sorry, that's heh... head canon, but that's the vibe I'm getting.

Best chance is probably Aurelius of Phoenix. He's kinda boyish... but pretty masculine. But you know he has a softer side with all of those toys he collects and is probably like really melancholy and sad on the inside and just needs a harem of magic fantasy girls to open up to. He should lead the first advances through the Gate and establish the Beach Head... or else the Legion will be caught in the Long War which they may not have the resources to sustain, much less win. And even Aurelius isn't an "I Win" button due to his habit of crucifying profligates... of which there ARE MANY. Some of whom that will desire to mate with him!!!1

EDIT:

Actually Cursor Lucullus might be the best bet. He has that hidden main character energy (being a Courier) and is a cute boy yearning for some character growth. This Versus Debate could be his main character story arc.

Hmm what about Decanus Deadsea or Centurion Silus?

It will be a tough battle but the post-apocalyptic Rome larper could win unless the Saderan gods and demigods get pissed off at him.

Which is likely to happen.

it depends on two things:

1) How willing is he to use guns.

2) How many troops does he actually have?

Furthermore, I think that things like cavalry, both ground and air cavalry, can be a nasty surprise.

I wonder why we never saw the return of the horse in FO, tbh.

Horses are extinct in large parts of the Post War world according to the non-canon Fallout Bible as well as Game Developer comments. They apparently showed up in a comic book adaption of the Bittersprings Massacre but the Devs said that was a mistake.

With that said Cavalry probably won't be that surprising as the knowledge of horses and the like is still pretty widespread.

Yeah, something as useful as horses and donkeys would most certainly make a re-appearance if any memory of them and any breeding stock are left.

Horses and other similar beasts of burden are just too useful and anyone who has them has the chance to do to the Fallout wasteland what Genghis Khan and Timur did to central Asia.

Without any cavalry or horse-drawn wagons and messages the Saderans
have a huge advantage in combat, logistics, scouting and communications, especially if the enemy limits firearm usage.

Caesers Legion would probably be able to utilize horses and the like sooner or later even if they are unfamiliar with the animals directly. I doubt they'll be able to form any mounted dragoons or heavy cavalry anytime soon but actual Native Americans were able to tame and domesticate horses after not too long. Seems probably that the former Tribals of Caesar's Legion will be able to soon enough, especially since the existence of horses is still widespread knowledge and other animals like Brahmins, bighorners and dogs etc are domesticated already.

That will all take time, probably more time than you think given the needs for specialized equipment, feed stockpiles and extra space to keep the horses as well as their upkeep like putting horseshoes on them and tending to them, and there is a world of difference between someone who has learned to ride in a few weeks and someone who has been doing it for years and years, and I doubt the post-Nuke LARPers have the time to become truly proficient.

The Saderans also have another trick up their sleeves, namely waivers, which will be an even nastier surprise where scouting and lightning attacks are concerned.

The Saderans have a huge mobility and logistics advantage and I am sure there will be more than enough bootleggers and would be turncoats and mercenaries that would betray the wooden philosopher for the chance to live in a world that is not a radioactive shithole and under feudal lords that are less schizo.

Yes I know it will take time and that they won't become truly proficient, that's why I said "sooner or later" and that "I doubt they'll be able to form any mounted dragoons or heavy cavalry anytime soon."

The only traitor or deserter I recall from Caesars Army (that wasn't like... thrown down a canyon whilst on fire or heavily irradiated into a new species) was Ulysses. Frumentari Picus apparently was loyal after spending years in the NCR and the only one that comes close to 'breaking' is if you do the 'Silus Treatment' Questline and pass higher level Speech or Intelligence checks. Regardless, he already had doubts on Caesars health, which isn't an issue in this scenario. So I doubt that the Legion will fracture due to various fan projections on implied weaknesses of said Legion.

If its held through the previous 87 Tribes and now conquering Vegas and the Mojave, the appeal of living as a Peasant in perpetual Medieval Times probably wouldn't be quite as appealing. Especially since not the entire Fallout World is a Radioactive Shithole and in fact, much of the nicer places are immediately accessible to said Legionaries, especially in the wake of this scenario. There'd probably actually be more of an inverse problem as the Legion, despite its brutality, would be providing a far better standard of living, as implied by the Independent Trader from Arizona and other cut content, to the feudal peoples.
