Sad news out of Brazil as Brazilian singer Marilia Mendonca & five others were killed in a plane crash, which was confirmed by Globo TV.

The aircraft she was in (a Beech King Air) hit a power line just after take-off. I'm hearing that power line was installed in violation of the clear zone that must be mantained around the airport. I'm also hearing that particular aircraft was poorly maintained by the air taxi service that owned it, and among its problems, its windshield fogged up at takeoff and landing.

What's sad is that Mendonca posted on Instagram HRS before her fatal plane crash.
Her Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & YouTube accounts flooded with tributes.

Even though I had never heard any of her songs, she was big in Brazil, especially in São Paulo, Minas Gerais and other States. When I heard about her death yesterday afternoon, someone commented on Discord: 'there will be closed streets in mourning here' (the guy lives near Campinas, in São Paulo State).

I saw some video of the public viewing of her open casket. The venue hosting the public viewing was packed as hundreds of mourners paid their respects.
