The Name of Love
Far Right Nutjob
Sorry for linking Carl Benjamin, but I think his video really sums up everything. In particular, I really like his comparison of the Progressives to an ideological mafia. "How devoted are you to diversity and inclusion? It'd be a real shame if it turned out you didn't care about those things as much as we do, because then we'd have to break your legs!"
This entire nonsense came after the Hallmark Channel pulled some pro-LGBT advertisements off their channel after being pressured by Christian activists. This led to a progressive backlash that forced the Hallmark Channel to apologize and announce its new commitment to diversity.
That's the context for this stinker of an article, which claims that Hallmark movies "constitute the Platonic ideal of fascist propaganda." Why? Well four reasons:
- Because Nazis approved of wholesome family movies, and the Hallmark Channel has wholesome family movies. Only Fascists are interested in family values, after all.
- The movie promotes "normality" because there aren't enough homosexuals or non-white people in the movie.
- The movies are sentimental garbage, lacking in emotional depth. This is because emotional depth incites empathy, "the greatest single threat to the to the authoritarian mindset." Therefore, any movie lacking in emotional depth is authoritarian.
- Wholesomeness is opposed to cosmopolitan diversity, and is thus fascistic.
In any case, I think there are some good explanations for what's going on behind the scenes.
First, we have to understand how the LGBT movement is attempting to further promote itself. In the wake of reaching record numbers of LGBT regulars on primetime television, the activist organization GLAAD has called for 20% of primetime television characters to be gay, bisexual, transgender, or some form of Tumblr nonsense by 2025 (link here). This is in spite of the fact that only about 5% of the population identifies as LGBT. They aren't looking for "representation." They are looking for cultural dominance. The entire Hallmark Channel nonsense is one part of a wider program to promote "LGBTQ acceptance." This article by Edward Feser explains the psychology behind this phenomenon, and I highly recommend you check it out.
Second, we can see that these LGBT activist organizations are far more powerful than anything the oh-so-spooky theocrats, at least in a cultural context. The worst a Christian group can do is threaten "controversy." If an LGBT organization labels you "homophobic" or "transphobic," you are done. Just ask Brendan Eich, a CEO of Mozilla Firefox forced to resign because he donated money to oppose gay marriage. Nobody's going to get you fired for being "Christophobic" though. Both sides pressured the Hallmark Channel, but we can see which group it ultimately bent the knee to. That's basically a microcosm of what's happening in our society.
