What If? Battlestar Galactica meets the Galactic Empire

The refugee fleet jumps into a system and witnesses a battle between the Galactic Empire and Free Planets Alliance in the Astarte system. What would happens next after they watch the fight and contact the sides.

Edit: Earlier I saw a battlestar Galactica what if here, I decided to do a few basically I'm curious what the reaction would be when they find an earth that is far diffrent than they expected. The galactic empire in Legend of the galactic heroes, is an actual monarchy that would cause friction for the colonials who seem to like democracy to a rather stupid extent, yet it has vast powerful navies and is armed with amazing technologies like lasers, so settling there would make them safer.

Bonus Scenario: They meet the galactic empire not during the start of the series but way before when Kaiser Rudolf was still around and started the inferior genes exclusion act, and abolished the Imperial Senate.

OBSG or NuBSG?
All I know is that the OBSG was more high tech than the new one. But you can talk about either, still just be sure to explain things to a newb then. Because I picked NBSG because I remember from the show they considered earth a myth so a crossover had to have a sci fi earth. But they were also in love with democracy to a dumb level, refusing to enact martial law after billions were killed and only 50,000 people remain. At that point fuck the constitution go full dictatorship baby. So when they meet the 13th tribe they see they have energy weapons and can protect them from the Cylons, but they also see it's in a massive war with half of them supporting an actual monarchy. That might throw them into culture shock.
@Sailor.X
What do you think?

I think they can adapt. But it will be soon apparent to the Colonials that the Empire is a bunch of Evil SOBs. They might bugger off to the outrim to come up with a plan of action. Their FTL is actual better than what the Empire has because they don't require mapped out Hyperspace lanes. They can go to a no mapped system and set up shop.

Is the empire really that evil?
Also why would they fuck off to an unmapped system instead of just going to the FPA? Like I get you can say the empire during Rudolfs reign with the inferior genes exclusion act is evil. But later it was no longer enforced and when Reinhard became emperor was repealed.

Just one question. This is not the Galactic Empire from Star Wars is it?

Nope. I thought we were talking about Star Wars. Because it has had other Empires other than Palpys.
I would highly recommend you look up the show I'm talking about. It's an anime yes, but it's not the weeb shit you'll expect when you hear anime. You can watch the first two episodes of the new show on Funimation just give it a try.

I think, that you should.New version start to become political correct, when old is just pure sci-fi.
Yeah I did notice it there were gays, though American media was always political propaganda and pro democracy.
Though ATP where could I watch the old series, if I could watch it for free on hulu or something I'd consider it.
Also did you watch or know anything about Legends of the Galactic Heroes so you can give any thoughts about what Galactica will do when they meet the Galactic Empire and the FPA?

And a cheesy attempt to make a space western/Star Wars knockoff for TV.
I have seen a few episodes, it it was kinda fun.I remember watching it as a very small kid, on some German tv channel, I couldn't understand a thing.
That is how I was introduced to Anime(DBZ and SM) and Stargate SG-1, btw.I think it was Pro7.
They always got the Treks before we did, too. :(

The Galactica would join the Free Planets Alliance but wouldn't contribute to the war effort. LoGH ships can casually travel across the galaxy within weeks. Apparently fuel for LoGH ships is plentiful. When supply chains become an issue in the series, it's always about people running out of food, not spaceship fuel. NuBSG's ships are abysmally slow in comparison and are constantly running out of NuBSG fuel. They mind as well get their FTL drives swapped out with the LoGH ones.

The Galactica would be useless in combat. LoGH battles takes place over massive distances, so far away that the enemy ships usually cannot be seen by the naked eye (unlike NuBSG battles). Again, an overhaul of the Galactica's equipment would be required, but that requires overhauling the powersupply and infrastructure... and at that point you mind as well just make a brand new LoGH ship from scratch. So I doubt that the FPA would invest the effort.

Starbuck and Apollo would likely become FPA fighter pilots.

Biggest thing that happens is that Adama tells the FPA about the importance of electronic warfare, since that pretty much decided the war in the universe they came from. The FPA might begin pouring research into attempting some sort of cyber attack on the Empire while also trying to prevent their own forces from being vulnerable to the same tactic. If Pegasus (under the command of Cain) also wound up in the LoGH setting, then things get complicated. The Pegasus could join the Empire and also tell them the trick too...

As for recommending the show, I'd probably say go with the original OVA series. Timeless aesthetics, classical music, and it has an "epic" feel. However, there was way too much speechifying for my liking. The remake cuts out most of the speechifying, but you get plastic modern anime aesthetics, everyone is a prettyboy, forgettable music, 3D CGI, and you lose out on the "epic" feel. Still pretty decent, though.

I thought that the LoGH FTL worked on the principal of some type of wormhole/fixed jump point.

I mean,t here were those 2 systems that served as chokepoints between the Empire and the FPA.

One bonus the Galactica might have is tactical FTL, since it could, in theory let your ships jump behind the enemy, bypass the enemy, or just jump, launch a fuckton of missiles, and jump back to safe distance before the enemy has the time to blink.

That said, what I remember of the visual damage even for the LoGH energy weapons is that they could pretty much "boil" an enemy ship in under a minute, and both the FPA and the Space prussians had a fuckton of ships.

I don't recall if they had shields or not, but IMO Galactica's armaments are very inferior.

As to electronic warfare, well, the only reason the Cylons' trick worked is because they infiltrated the Colonials via Baltar and spread that virus to all their systems.
If anything, it shows that the Colonials were just incompetent at penetration testing their code and had the most retarded IT and systems design imaginable.

Alright you can look at hidive, or funimation. I don't know where to get the Polish dub or sub. But I'd recommend you to watch it. I'll tell you the background with hopefully no spoilers. I think LOGH get's lots of things right except religion, and the 13 day war the nations don't make sense.

So 20 minutes into the future, year is 2039 there are two power blocks the United States of Euro Africa, and the Northern Condominium. Thirteen Day War - Gineipaedia, the Legend of Galactic Heroes wiki
They get involved in a nuclear war that destroys almost all civilization. Because of the war only 1 billion humans survive, also regular religions seem to have died out since people saw there was no God coming to save them but humanity builds itself back together and unites into the United Earth Government capital is in Australia. The UEG was a democracy, at first they were improving humanity technology was advancing, humanity went into outer space and build colonies in other star systems so they made a police military the space force! But eventually democracy and civilization goes corrupt. Earth's resources were depleted so they taxed the colonies heavily. The colonies protested and the leader of the independence movement Sirius's capital was brutally oppressed by the space force. This led to a full scale war as the colonies rebelled and created the black fleet. Then the rebels beat back the earth's space force back to earth, and the brutal siege of terra began. There was no quarter soldiers fought till the death and did not surrender. Eventually the rebels won, and when they got to earth they bombed it from orbit, after all was said and done. Earth's population was reduced to 1 billion AGAIN. Though at least this time humanity was not only on earth. After this earth became a backwater and most people left. United Earth Government - Gineipaedia, the Legend of Galactic Heroes wiki
Peace would not last the leaders of the black fleet would squabble amongst themselves one killed others and tried to become dictator but was assassinated. This led to a dark age that lasted 300 years. Eventually in 2801 another star system established the Galactic Federation and united humanity again it was a Republic and it was prosperous and things were great. They even created a new callender UC Universal Calendar since humanity was no longer bound to earth. Calendar era - Gineipaedia, the Legend of Galactic Heroes wiki

For a time, eventually society became corrupt, he rose to power and brought back societies values. Please be aware this video may contain inappropriate content for young views or those who recently ate lunch.

Rudolf Goldenbaum a young military officer became elected to lead the galactic federation and he was doing a good job, and changed it to an Empire with himself as the first emperor. He revitalized society, and favored German values. Very German values, when he put forward the Inferior Genes Exclusion Act which would euthanize anyone who was disabled or was considered to have defective genes people began to balk. So he abolished the Imperial Senate and made it a pure monarchy he also made his supporters those who were Germanic descended or could pass as German as the new nobility. He also started a new calendar again the Imperial calendar to establish the start of his dynasty was in 300 UC. This guy is basically space Hitler, and he won, no rebellion ousted him he ruled till he died of natural causes and he purged republican and those who objected to his Neo Action T4 plan. However even though he won eventually his successor "liberalized" they no longer enforced the inferior genes exclusion act, and the Galactic Empire eventually became a regular feudal monarchy like the Ancien Regime, where the nobility have their power because they are born into it, and the serfs just obey. The upside is that it's not soo Nazi like like when Rudolf ruled. The bad thing was that at least Rudolf was meritocratic if you were white and you could rise to be a noble if you were competent enough.
But anyway eventually some Serfs led by Arle Heinneson. Broke off and used some asteroids made of dry ice to escape the Galactic Empire in the Long March of 10,000 light years they left the orion arm of the galaxy to the Sagitarius I think? They found a planet named it after Heineson and started a Democracy. Eventually the Galactic Empire found them and the two powers have been at war for the past few hundred years. The story starts off with two characters one on the Empire's side Reinhard Loehngram his sister was taken to be the Emperor's concubine he isn't happy about it, he wants to overthrow the Empire, become Emperor and reform it. On the Alliance side is Yang Wen Li. Supreme Genius too loyal to democracy for his own good. It shows both the good and bad sides of democracy, and autocracy. Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Highly recommend it.

Aren't LOGH ships actually quite good with ewar? I mean they frequently jam communications so that's why they rely on courier ships?

Yes LOGH has shields, it says it can deflect a medium railgun. Don't know how that would compare to Galactica's guns. As for ewar again LOGH knows about those tactics that's why they have courier ships so that their officers can receive orders when communications are jammed.
