Badass “Mostly” Normal In Fantasy Settings Recommendations

As the thread title indicates, this is a thread for recommendations and maybe even ideas for series wherein the protagonist is someone who exists in a Fantasy Setting where both more “normal” enemies appear alongside all sorts of supernatural being or even strange prehistoric and foreign beasts

I recommend Robert E. Howard’s works like Conan The Cimmerian, Kull King of Atlantis and Bran Brak Morn amongst many others

Aside from them, I recognise Berserk and Goblin Slayer as having MC’s who are “mostly normal” and have great combat prowess, though the latter makes more use of deduction, tactics, traps and improvisation since he’s not that good with melee aside from slaughtering low level goblin mooks in large numbers and even then he knows when he’ll be overwhelmed

I think DOOM also counts, just so you guys know, though Doomguy uses guns and chainsaws and his own fists rather than more traditional melee weapons

Anyway, what are your recommendations

The Malazan series has multiple protagonists and perspectives, but more than a few of them fit the Badass Normal bill.

Theres the classic 'Black Company'. It follows a band of mercs that often end up working for the 'bad guy'. The mercs are mostly bog standard humans and a couple low level wizards and end up going up against all sorts

Already got it on my Kindle, not reading it yet, probably after I’m done with David Weber & John Ringo’s Prince Roger series

Don’t think many expect a dandy to be a Badass
