Television Bad News for Stargate SG1

Good news is that Amazon just released all three shows in 16:9 on basic Prime. The bad news is that the show they are planning will not be likely to involve Brad Wright judging off the frustration and comments he had on possible reboot or continuation in his recent interview back in July.

With Amazon's pattern of behavior with Wheel of Time and most recently Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (they ghosted Jackson after approaching him when Tolkien recommended they work with Jackson. They instead waited for Tolkien to die and hired two incompetent, overly political, showrunners with only 1 show in their professional CV, a failed one at that) I expect the show when it finally releases to be Stargate in name only. I fully expect them to turn it into a soulless sock puppet for their woke agenda.

Both Tolkiens, Senior and Junior and Robert Jordan are rolling in their Graves.

There's some weird schizophrenia with Amazon's programming. With shows like Reacher or The Terminal List their requirements for representation really don't feature front and center and don't distract from for the plot. Which is sort of understanding since these shows are set in the 'real' US/World. So I'm not totally convinced that a SG1 sequel/reboot would necessarily have to be a woke mess, especially if they kept the same type of influence the old shows had with the US military.

An Amazon-funded show also has the possible advantage of a larger budget allowing for more gear and more varied planetary settings. SG1 did well for what it could, but you never ceased to notice that they were in Canada. 😄 To play devil's advocate, Wheel of Time also had a massive budget and managed to look utterly cheap with it. And the less said about that show, the better, as this was the blueprint for what is now happening with Rings of Power, and an example where the company's diversity mandates utterly screwed up the setting beyond repair.

Wonderful news though is that Christina Ricci is working on the new Addams Family movie and seems to be in love with the child actor's take on Wednesday. Seeing as Christina's Wednesday was the definitive on the role I'm highly optimistic.
Massive budget doesn't seem to mean much when Amazon's facade of progressivism means hiring incompetent, egotistical twits who infamously derided the author of the books and made the show his personal homosexual, femenist empowerment, smut fanfic take of WoT.

We've seen several favourite franchises and settings be proverbially anal-raped by Amazon's bullshit agenda programming. If I were religious, I'd be praying that Stargate isn't forced to proverbially pick up the soap in a prison shower. smh

Honestly, looking at these projects I can't shake the feeling that they are so rife with corruption you'd only have to poke them with a needle to get puss all over you. Look at LARPs. Look at small scale fan movies. Look at the visual quality and set quality you can get if you have a bunch of nonames work at something they love, and it costs them 500 bucks, a ball of string and some plywood. And then look at Wheel of Time, which supposedly was made in eastern Europe (lower labor costs, lower equipment costs) and could have re-used a lot of its sets if done properly. WHERE IS THE MONEY? Because nothing what was shown justified 70+ million dollars!!!

Virtue signalling and diversity are expensive. ;)

As for Stargate, how much you want to bet it ends up being like one of the parodies they made fun of in one of their own episodes?

A short few years ago, wasn't there a mini-mini series of vignette style episodes of a reimagined and retconned Stargate set back in Egypt with a Grrrrl Power! female protagonist and weird flop for a goa'uld that was so cack handed and so poorly done that it's very existence has been scrubbed and forgotten?

Amazon's re-take on Stargate will probably be like, just a more expensive flop.

edit: yeah I had to go looking because it was bugging me, Stargate Origins, which was basically a fanfic turned into a "show" by 2 people and aired on the MGM subscription service. It bombed and the Stargate community forgot it ever existed.
