Avowed: Skyrim of the Rings

Subtitle is my take on the Franchise.

First Oblivion makes The Outer World's, which was obviously inspired by Fallout.

Now they're making Avowed, which looks like it's their answer to Skyrim.

Oblivion Studios feels like it's trying to be Bethesda.

Mmm. The Outer Worlds was not a particular critical darling. Hopefully this proves to be a little bit better. The trailer does look cool, for what little that's worth.

Hopefully the gameplay is nice or at the very least I get a feeling of impact whenever I hit something

Unlike Elder Scrolls and Fallout where attacks feel like they just slide off

Also hope they’re not just a bunch of reskinned damage sponges

....Avowed is supposed to take place on Eora, the world of Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2.

Which means it could potentially be fucking awesome...or it could really seriously suck and piss off a bunch of PoE fans.

Quite frankly, the difference between an isometric game and a first person game audience is such that I don't think the PoE fans really matter to Avowed's success.

Developing a game like Pillars of Eternity is $4-5 million.

Skyrim costs $85 million, and while I really doubt Avowed will be as cutting edge today as Skyrim was in 2011, its still gonna cost a pretty penny.

Avowed will also have much more mainstream appeal.
