A simple thread for a simple passtime. I started getting into them because most of my "book" energy is spent on the last university books. Anyway let me start with this :

I recently finished the Renegades trilogy by Marissa Meyer. It's an interesting mix of Superheroes + Post-Apocalypse, essentially one supervillain won, and was just barely beaten after he destroyed the world and put it into total hell for 10 years straight, and the team of supers who put him down are now (badly) trying to rebuild from the ashes while the villain's old crew are up to shenanigans. Impressively, the author managed to come up with a reason for the two leads to have secret identities (and hate/love each other's alternate identities) despite the fact that in the post-apoc world, nobody uses them anymore and your superhero name is just a cool tag.

It has two voice readers, a woman for Nightmare's perspective chapters and a man for Sketch's which is always a nice touch on works that have differently gendered viewpoints.

Hands down one of the best 40K audio books I’ve ever heard. From the soundtrack to the voice acting and attention to small details. The man even gets the growl in the space marine helmet speakers on point.

It’s also just good old fashioned fun and really puts you in to Kharn’s head. The Doom like music in the background gets the blood pumping and the glorious violence of it all truly does honor to Khorne.

This is better than 95% of the official 40K audio books on audible. I love his World Eater content most, because I’m a filthy heretic and love Angron’s character, but he has a few others that I like as well.

He does mainly short stories. Fifteen to thirty minutes of content, that’ll leave you wanting more.
